Week 8 Work Blog

The last week proved to be the most efficient yet. Our group collaborated to get the final draft done ahead of time. We didn’t want to put it out at the last minute and we were successful in pitching in to make sure the process of turning it in was painless.

I got in contact with everyone on Friday of Week 7. I didn’t make any plans, but just wanted to put the idea out to everyone that I thought we should meet in person to make the final changes. All of my group members responded to me by Sunday afternoon. We decided that our conflicting schedules would not permit all of us to meet together. However, Kelly was able to come over on a last minute attempt to wipe out a majority of our final editing on Monday.

This was very helpful because there were some serious changes that needed to be made to the design portions of our documents. Kelly and I worked together to reformat the Volunteering Flyer as well as the Crisis Support Postcard. After we had completed a big chunk of the work, we sent it to the boys to look over and divided the remainder of the work between the four of us. Brad was out of town, so we decided that the easiest thing for him to do would be our final group report. Jun Ko made some final changes to the brochure and passed it along to Kelly and I for editing.

Ultimately, I was really impressed by how well the group worked together. The beginning was sketchy but I think that happens a lot when you are trying to figure out your group dynamics. We all seemed to take responsibility in ways that highlighted our skills. Communication is big to me so this was something I tries to encourage with my group.

I look forward to seeing the outcome of our efforts with the Service Learning Project!
