New Email from Jane

I am not sure if each group was given individual feedback or not, so I will divide it up and post it to each group's wiki page. Check there for feedback on your specific project. The email and general feedback for all follows:

Email From Jane at Crisis Center

I just received the following email regarding your service learning projects from Jane at Lafayette Crisis Center:

I will get you feedbac [sic], but it will be later this evening, sorry. I asked other staff to review as well. Generally we are disappointed in the accuracy and quality. More later. Jane

Sounds like there is some work to do . . . .

Grading Update Part Deux

Corporate Communication Projects are graded and grade sheets have been emailed. Revisions will be due one week from today (no later than 11:59 PM on Tuesday 8/4). Post them to your blog with the tag "Corporate Project Revision." Now I have to grade for some other classes, and then employment project revisions for you guys are next on my list. I hope to have them done by the end of the week, but no later than Monday. Questions? Comments? Concerns? Let me hear 'em.

Work Blogs

Please remind yourselves of the purpose of the work blogs by reading the project summary. Some of you are posting rambling thoughts about the project in general, your anxiety, how the group communicated, etc. That is not the purpose of the work blogs. Please go reread (and hopefully it is reread) Step 3 so you can earn as many points as possible for that part of the project. If you have specific, focused questions, please let me know.

Grading Update

While I will certainly try to get Corporate Communication projects graded and returned by the end of this week, it might be Monday (7/27) before I can get them returned. Since that would delay getting back Employment project revisions, I will try my hardest to get them back this week. Most of the factors involved, however, are completely out of my control. We'll know more by the end of the week.

Jet Blue Letter

I meant to post this over the weekend, but here (and attached below) is the official JetBlue letter for the Text Analysis, Step 3 of the Corporate Communication Project. The text analysis should completely address the topic and there is no minimum word/page count, but I would expect this to be 1-2 pages.

Employment Project

You should now have, via email, a graded and commented rubric for your employment project. Please carefully read that email and the attached Excel document for an explanation of your grade. Note that the document consists of three sheets, which are accessible via the tabs at the bottom.

Please read the email. This means do not send me an email that says "I know you said to wait 24 hours, but . . .". Thank you!

Instructor Blog #5: Working in Groups

Quite frankly, most instructors (including me) are hesitant to assign group projects to students. We have bad memories from our undergrad days of doing entire group projects by ourselves, and we are skeptical of the ability of students to work together effectively and equally. The challenges of teamwork are only exacerbated by our distance ed course, where group members may never meet face to face. But group work is a reality of the professional workplace, and you will need to be able to work productively in teams to accomplish complex tasks quickly.

Employment Project

In order to forestall the inevitable question, your employment projects will be returned to you on Monday 7/13. You will then have one week to revise if you choose. Revisions will be due Monday 7/20.
