Project Log: Week 7

As the final week of this course concludes, the team is making appropriate steps and plans towards completing a final draft for Project 3. I found it very helpful to use the readings posted in the Project 3 description towards the editing process of the white paper. The readings have helped me identify what components are left to work on for the final copy. The group has taken the approach of a “rotational” editing, where each person will make adjustments to the document and then email the file to the other members, for another person to provide their input. We had started with using Google Docs to collaborate on the paper, but the program proved to have poor formatting and organizational properties, so we resorted to the old email attachment method. With each revision the document seems to get stronger and more effective. At this time we are focusing upon clarifying content, adding supportive evidence (charts, tables, and graphics), and including citations within the content. Overall communication between the group members has gone well, and we found the best medium is by phone (for planning purposes). In general, the editing process has gone very smoothly and we are close to a having a final paper.
