Ryan Weber Introduction
My name is Ryan Weber, and I'm from Seattle, Washington (actually, from nearby Mill Creek, but I cheat and say I'm from Seattle). I'm a doctoral candidate working on a degree in Rhetoric and Composition with an emphasis in professional writing. After my work at Purdue finishes up next year, I'd like to get a tenure-track position at a teaching college. This is my third time teaching online, and I love that the medium forces us to do all our communication through writing because it gives us the chance to put the course principles into practice. It also prepares you for the networked workplace where colleagues are often miles or continents away. When I'm not teaching or researching, I enjoy camping, reading, and anything to do with Batman (who could beat Superman - discuss). Welcome to the class!
Dale Szul Introduction
My name is Dale Szul and I am from West Chicago, Illinois (a suburb). I am currently a junior in Mechanical Engineering here at Purdue. Career goals would include becoming a well-rounded and experienced engineer, and having opportunities to impact our everyday lives and society in a positive manner. From this course, I would like to improve upon my abilities to communicate my knowledge, ideas, and opinions to other engineers and professionals in a effective and informative manner. Also, some of my hobbies would include watching/playing sports, playing the guitar, and listening to music.
Justine's Introduction
I am from the west side of Indianapolis, IN. I am in Mechanical Engineering going into my senior year. I am not sure what I would like to do once I graduate. I am intrigued by automotives, construction, and utility work and finding innovative ways to better these areas and the environment as well. From this course I would like to improve my writing skills to be more professional and further help to communicate ideas.
I love to play golf, rugby, swim, practice/teach yoga & pilates, read, paint, play the piano and other instruments, and fix cars.
Randy Wesley Introduction
My name is Randy Wesley and I am from the southeastern corner of Indiana, Moores Hill, Indiana ( its about 45 minutes from Cincinnati, OH). I am going into my senior year this fall and studying Mechanical Engineering Technology. I currently have no real plans as far as after graduation, as long as I get a job that I enjoy and will pay the bills, I will be content. From this class I hope to obtain 3 more credits closer to graduation, as well as any technical writings skills which may be useful in a later career. When not at work or school, I enjoy playing soccer, riding 4-wheelers or motorcycles, and relaxing with some nice cold beer.
Hello
Hi everyone! My name is Meredith Ervin and in the fall I will be a senior in Interdisciplinary Science with a primary focus in physics and a secondary focus in meteorology. I'm not really sure what I want to do for a career yet, but I'm looking towards something research oriented. From this course I want to improve my technical writing skills and ability to communicate clearly. This is also the first online course that I have taken, so hopefully I can also learn how to communicate effectively with people that I am not seeing face-to-face. I've had a blog for several years, but that's quite different from a class. A little bit about myself, I love animals, books, sci-fi, and video games. I'm working at PetSmart again this summer to save some money so that and this class are filling up my summer.
Hello!
My name is Dan Kleinbaum and I'm from Ann Arbor, Michigan. I'm three credits away from finishing up my B.S. in Mechanical Engineering. I started at Purdue in August 2003, so I'm finishing my victory lap or my 5th year. While I was on campus I played water polo for two years, organized the Rube Goldberg Machine Contests and consistently got stellarly mediocre grades. I hope this course gets me my degree and gives me a medium to improve my writing. During the semester, I'll be working at a YMCA camp in northern Michigan, where I've spent the last five summers. I spent the last semester working for a motorcycle company in Bangalore, India and briefly traveling around that side of the world. I have the travel bug, and hope I can find a way (both professionally and for vacation) to continue going to new places. After finishing, I'm going to take my engineering degree and move back in with my mommy and daddy to figure out what comes next. I'm considering teaching or going into marketing or sales, and after working as an "Engineer", not considering an engineering job.
Chris Ligon Introduction
Hello, my name is Chris Ligon and I am from Fishers, IN (Northeast side of Indianapolis). Intro
My name is Ryan, yea go figure. While you said not to use your last name in your user name due to the fact that the site is public, to be honest, I am not worried about someone tracking me down. Not to mention the fact that I am sure I will state my full name on the site at some point in the future. Anyways, I will be a senior in ME at the start of the school year. I am from Minnesota but am currently in CT for the summer with an internship at Hamilton Sundstrand in Buy Engineering. As far as career goals, I want to invent something and cash out. Realistically though, I just want to find something I enjoy and make enough money to support my car fetish. I am not going to lie, I needed tech elective credits so that is basically why I took this course. As far as getting anything out of it, if I become a better writer, great, if not, I am 3 credits closer to moving on with life. I don't really know what to say about hobbies, I just pretty much do what ever seems good at any given time. In the case where there is nothing to do, I usually spend that time watching something educational. One thing I know about myself for sure though, I can't spell worth 2 shits. Also, be aware of sarcasm, I will be sure to put it in italics if I remember.
*EDIT* I just read the 'blogs' and shit, I guess I need to get used to actually reading something.

My name is Colin Tomazin, and I am going into my fourth year of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University next Fall. I am from Munster, IN (Chicagoland) and work as an intern at U.S. Steel in Portage, IN where we make tin for food cans. I hope to become more proficient at writing in Engilsh 421, especially when explaining technical subject matter because that can be very challenging. I hope to find a job that suits my personality and interests after finishing school. In my spare time, I enjoy working on my parents' house and spending time with my friends.

I love NASCAR and watch it all the time, I enjoy the outdoors, and I also love cars.
Introduction: Jared Wilkinson
My name is Jared Wilkinson and I am a rising senior majoring in neurobiology and physiology from Indianapolis, IN. Following graduation I hope to attend medical school, although I am still up in the air about what field of medicine I'd like to pursue. This summer, I am working for Indianapolis Neurosurgical Group at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis and am really interested in medicine (I suppose that's a hobby). I also love reading, politics/current events, soccer, and basketball. I hope to leave this course a more proficient writer and communicator, as well as learn more about communication with electronic media.

I am from Longmont, CO. I am studying mechanical engineering, and I will be a senior in the fall. Right now, I am interning for Xerox in Portland, OR. I'm not entirely sure what I want to do with my degree when I graduate, but I am definitely considering attending grad school and getting a higher degree. By taking this course, I would like to work on my technical writing skills, and learn proper methods to writing a technical document. One thing personal about myself is that I really enjoy playing tennis, and I intend to to that a lot this summer.
Hello
Hello. My name is Joel Buchanan and I am currently a Senior in the School of Mechanical Engineering at Purdue University in West Lafayette. I am originally from a little town north of Fort Wayne, Indiana. My hometown is so small we don’t even have a stoplight. Being from such a small town, I tend to just claim Fort Wayne when asked where I’m from.
I am currently on a work term with the Industrial Automation Division of Emerson Electric. My career goals include transitioning to the business side of engineering, and working from a large metropolitan area. My only time fixed goal at this point is to work outside of the United Sates before I’m thirty.
I would like to learn more about business and technical communications from this course.
In my free time I enjoy traveling and playing golf.
Introduction: Andrew Garland
Hi, my name is Andrew Garland and I am about to be a Senior in the School of Mechanical Engineering here at Purdue in West Lafayette. I am originally from Knoxville, Tennessee but still claim to be a Northerner as I lived in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for most of my life.
After I graduate, I will likely try to get my MBA. I haven't decided if I want to do it straight out of college, or get some work experience, and then have my work pay for me! I would like to work in the biomechanical field. Therefore, I wanted to take this course so I can further my education in how to write more technical.
I am not all about school, and have many hobbies. I love sports, and play golf, soccer, rugby, crew, and most other sports, but only for fun. I also love to work on my car, and I race it (autocross, rallycross) on the weekends when I get a chance.
