Week 7: Rough Draft, Peer Review, and Final Editing

This week has been mainly devoted to editing. Each of Group 1's members read and commented on Group 2's white paper for some peer review, and that has gone well. The suggestions our group received were somewhat helpful, and we have incorporated some changes both in content and formating.

I made some format changes that have helped the overall look of our paper, and I also did some rewording and spell-checking in the overall document as well as send suggestions I think we should incorporate in the paper to all my team members.

Week 7: Outline Revisions, Brainstorming, and Rough Draft

We are now in the late week 6/early week 7 stage, and the project has progressed past the hardest part, in my opinion--getting started. Joel created a very nice spreadsheet (on Google Docs I might add) with a rough outline of the paper. On Saturday 7.18.08 at 2:30 pm CST, the group met via AIM chatroom to discuss the outline and edit it all at the same time.

Week 6: Research, Outlining, and Rough Drafting

All team members have submitted 3 good sources for research for our white paper. The team seems to work well together, so far, and I have no reason to believe that will change. All group members, at the time of this project log, are currently doing research to be prepared for a joint meeting to discuss the paper's overall direction. The meeting has tentatively been set for this coming weekend, probably Saturday afternoon. At the meeting we will use the knowledge gained from our research to hammer out an outline reflection the direction in which we want to take this paper.

Reading Response, White Papers

After examining all the selected readings, I feel I have a clearer understanding of white papers that will be further enhanced as our group progresses through the process of writing our white paper on Google Docs.

Week 5 Project Log

So far, my group has made initial contact. We have all decided to stay with Google Docs as our project's subject. This weekend I'll be doing as much reading as possible to get ready for the upcoming week's tasks. At this point, I think once we all get caught up on our reading and start into the project, things will get going quickly. Our next step, I think, will be to split up tasks and start attacking them. All of our group members seem to be active participants, and I'm anxious to begin working with them.

Cover Letter and Resume Drafts

Here are my drafts for my cover letter and resume. I would appreciate any constructive criticism anyone has to offer, so please be brutally honest.

Cover Letter Examples Discussion

I have located two cover letter examples. The first one can be found here and is, overall, a pretty good example of a cover letter.

T-Letter, Project 2

Attached to this blog entry is my Project 2 T-Letter.

Reading Response, Resumes & Cover Letters

The job I have chosen for Project 2 involves mechanical engineering for a company that regularly deals with major U.S. defense companies.

Usability Testing, Project 1

I chose to test my directions with Nate, a co-worker, during lunch today, and I ended up getting some really good feedback.
