Project Log: Week 7

As the final week of this course concludes, the team is making appropriate steps and plans towards completing a final draft for Project 3. I found it very helpful to use the readings posted in the Project 3 description towards the editing process of the white paper. The readings have helped me identify what components are left to work on for the final copy. The group has taken the approach of a “rotational” editing, where each person will make adjustments to the document and then email the file to the other members, for another person to provide their input.

Project Log: Week 6

For this week, individually we are developing outlines so formulate the structure of our white paper. Once each person has created an outline, we will collaborate and decide upon a final outline to apply towards a rough draft, and once the final outline is complete we will be able to divide the topics up between each person. There has been minimal communication between the group members this week due to conflicting schedules, but since the rough draft is due 7/21, we are planning to develop the draft over the weekend, by means of AIM, Google Docs, and phone.

Reading Response: White Papers

Based from the readings, a brief definition of a white paper would include: a professional document that provides accurate technical content on a specific topic, without a bias, even though some cases may include a bias for promoting a service, product, or idea.

Project Log: Week 5

In preparation for the material of Project 3, I have sent an email to
my other group members, with additional ways of contacting me (AIM and phone). Once we being a communication process, some of the action items will be addressed. I have started to expose myself to the white paper design by reading the Thompson Handbook, especially from the readings suggested in the Project 3 description. Since I have done my
instructions project on Google Docs, I am conformable with the program, and I
have already created my account.

Current Action Items:

Resume and Cover Letters Submissions

Attached are my cover letter and resume. I made changes based on the course materials and requirements, and I believe these changes are definate improvements. For the peer editing, I would like to focus on the quality of description of the content, instead of just listing my experience, skills, education... Overall, I feel that since the readings and discussions, my resultant cover letter and resume have become much stronger and effective.

T Letter Submission

Attached is a copy of my T Letter. I decided to use the Center for Career Opportunities (CCO) from Purdue because it is the search tool I am most familiar with and I will be using it much more in the future. The company I decided to tailor my letter to was the Dana Corporation, it was one of the companies I was looking into this previous Fall.

June 27th Reading Responses

The online readings were interesting because they were from the perspectives of people who review resumes, and offered supportive reasoning of what is involved in a well written resume. I felt that the main point all of the readings was what makes a resume to be the most effective as possible, within a short amount of time.
