I've received a question regarding the difference between reading responses and comments as well as the number required. To clarify: Each week you will be asked to write a reading response. For the most part these will be due on Wednesdays. Your reading response should address the week's readings specifically (there will usually be a prompt to assist you). This reading response should be posted as a blog entry and should be 300 words in length. Please see the Principles of Reading Responses page for more information.
Comments and replies, on the other hand, should respond to the reading responses that other students have posted to their own blog. These should be about 100 words in length. These are posted as comments below the blog entry that you are responding to. You are required to submit five comments per week. The reading response does not count as one of your five comments. In addition, peer review assignments do not count towards the number of comments due during each week. For example, you have a peer review due today and while you will post these using the comment function, they are separate from the usual weekly required comments and replies. In other words, you will use the comment function for a multitude of activities but only comments to reading responses will be count towards your five comments. Please see the Principles for Comments and Replies page for more information.
