Dallas Work Blog Week 8

This week, I really tried to change the overall image of our flyer. I wanted to try to be more creative with the photograph and the titles. I first began with the photograph. After reviewing comments about my original selection, I wanted to choose a more appropriate photograph for the flyer. I couldn’t find any with Dreadful Penny that suited my needs for the flyer. I finally chose a photo that I thought would be easy to add color effects for a more “creepy” look. I downloaded a program that makes editing photographs easy.

This week we finished up our service learning project. Our group did a good job working together to finish everything up. Everyone did a great job of working together to get everything done on time. I mostly just looked over the documents to make sure there were no large errors. I also worked a little on the brochure and changed a couple of things. I think Greg did a great job working on the brochure. I think we could have paid a little more attention to some of the details. We didn’t quite get all the small details correct. I know we had problems with hyphenated words.

This week was full of revisions for our group. We had to put the finishing touches on both the flyer and the brochure. This week we looked at the client feedback and went from there. We were able to change some images and reformat the text on both or brochure and flyer. This week I also had the opportunity to complete the activity report for my group. I simply described the progress my group made, and the goals we had for the upcoming week. By Wednesday we put the final touches on everything.

This week was full of revisions and finalizing our documents. My part of the project was designing the brochure and the second revision of it. While looking at the feedback from the client, I tried to follow their directions. They wanted the logo present and prominent. I changed the logo from being in the background of the cover and moved it so it was standing out on its own. This way the reader can know the company’s name and can connect the name with the company’s logo. Another big change to the brochure was changing the pictures to incorporate more images from past plays.

This Wednesday, our final draft was due for the Service Learning Project. After reading our client’s comments on our flyer and brochure, I knew my group needed to buckle down and really get to work. As disorganized as our group started, we were able to complete the project on time. As for me, I tend to stress out about the little things in life. I am sure I pestered most of my group with all the emails I sent out to them. When I would think of something that specific group members needed to work on or remember, I would shoot them an email stating what needs to be done.

This week group two all pulled together to get our final drafts finished and turned in on time. We worked very hard in order to edit our documents to the standards required by our client and by our professor. I contributed a good amount to finish the brochure. I made sure little details were perfected such as alignment of text boxes and alignment of pictures. I also collaborated with my group about what to do so we could make the flier able to be copied.

In the final week of the Service Learning Project, all that was left for me to do was consider all final revisions. I offered my final thoughts on the brochure, including grammatical errors and eliminating all hyphenated words. From there, I concentrated my interest on the flyer. One revision I made to the flyer was to delete the phrase “Fringe Festival” as suggested by the client. Also, I deleted the purple graphic of the hands and grape because it made the flyer too cluttered.

HERMAN Work Blog Week #8

This being the final week of the course, a lot of work was done. Although a lot of work was done for the project this week, it was mostly touching up revisions and making sure our documents were what the client wanted. Pictures were one thing that our brochure had some difficulties in. Before the revisions were made, we only had pcitures from one of the plays and that made Tantalus look like a "one man show". At first we were not able to open up pictures to get more of a variety, but eventually Kelley and I were able to incorporate different pictures to make Tantalus look more dynamic.

Wickert Work Blog Week #8

This week started off last Saturday. I started work on the brochure for the final submission. I wrote our groups weekly report. I worked on that on Sunday and emailed it in to the teacher after proofreading over the report. For the final submission of the brochure, I was to help with editing of the brochure. I first found different pictures for the brochure. We only had pictures from the one play, Dreadful Penny’s. From the Tantalus Theatre Group’s website I found pictures from other plays. I tried to follow our color theme of black and red.

This week I was responsible to revise the flyers. As soon as I got the instructor’s feedback on the flyer, I revised everything according to his feedback, such as rearranged spaces between sentences on the upper part of the flyer. Also, after I got feedbacks from the client, I tried to revise all mistakes, such as the event’s name and a sentence in the flyer. Unfortunately I got more problems. The client said that she did not want any dark background color. It was a big problem for me because I had to change the whole design in the flyer if I want to change the background color.
