This week started off last Saturday. I started work on the brochure for the final submission. I wrote our groups weekly report. I worked on that on Sunday and emailed it in to the teacher after proofreading over the report. For the final submission of the brochure, I was to help with editing of the brochure. I first found different pictures for the brochure. We only had pictures from the one play, Dreadful Penny’s. From the Tantalus Theatre Group’s website I found pictures from other plays. I tried to follow our color theme of black and red.

This week our second draft of the brochure and flier were due early in the week. They were going to be looked over by another group and Mrs. Lind from the Tantalus Theatre Company. This week we mostly stuck to our Gantt chart assignments. Instead or working on the flier, I worked more on the brochure. One group member first edited the brochure; changing the color scheme and making everything look good together. After he did that, I changed the fonts again, making sure to follow the advice given to us from Ed, using sans-serif for the headings and serif for the body text.

The emotion the brochure could affect when someone first reads it is fear. The black background and red writing does not make someone happy, but could make the reader fearful. If intrigue or questioning of the matter were emotions I think the brochure would make the reader experience those emotions. (-) This brochure could appeal to someone’s desires if they wanted to view a play similar to the ones Tantalus Theatre Company portrays. In my opinion, I think the brochure is professionally made.

This week we add to pull together the first rough drafts for our documents. Members in our group completed the parts that were assigned to them in our Gantt chart. My assignment was to work on the back page of the brochure. Also, we were all to be working on research for the flyer and brochure and templates for both. I looked at all of the different categories on Tantalus Theatre group’s website. Since my job was to work on the back page of the brochure, I printed off two other past brochures used by Tantalus Theatre given to the class by Mrs. Lind.

The two chapters we read this week in our book were both very informative. Chapter 24 supplied ideas about how to use graphics and charts within your document. It explained the process on what you need to do to reference and give credit to photographs you use in documents. You should also let people know who supplied the graphic being used in your document. Also, this chapter gave descriptions of many different types of charts. Charts are always a useful tool to have in a professional document. I really enjoyed reading all of chapter 37.

Starting off the week our group made a little contact with each other. I did not respond to anyone until Friday morning to an email from Gisheilla. After emailing back and forth some this morning we are all now using the Wiki page to communicate. The page makes communication between group members much easier than emailing everyone over and over. I was unable to respond during the day to many of the posts because my main job is outside, not anywhere near an internet connection. One of our group members assigned everyone jobs to do for our gantt chart.

I have never made up a brochure before. Whenever I had to make up a flyer for an organization I used ones from previous years and just changed a few things. Chapter 25 presented many ways to make your brochure or document stand out and will be recognized. This was one of the few brochures I found on the state website for 4-H.
