LASK Work Blog Week 8

This week group two all pulled together to get our final drafts finished and turned in on time. We worked very hard in order to edit our documents to the standards required by our client and by our professor. I contributed a good amount to finish the brochure. I made sure little details were perfected such as alignment of text boxes and alignment of pictures. I also collaborated with my group about what to do so we could make the flier able to be copied.

LASK Work Blog Week 7

I think that my group worked very hard this week to meet the deadlines for the second drafts of this project. My job this week was to alter and fix the brochure based on peer and teacher critiques. I fixed all that needed to be fixed and we submitted in a timely fashion. This included the alteration of some pixellation in the logo which I simply fixed through trial and error by decreasing the brightness on the image. I also changed some of the fonts and sizes of lettering which allowed for an easier read when viewing the brochure.

The appeal to emotions (+) in our brochure drafts are significant and really emanate a mysterious feel about the Tantalus theatre group. The dark colors symbolize not only a horror aspect but a great theatric and dramatic tone. Our brochure is very professional (+). It has clear pictures (there was an error with our logo when we submitted it) and very dramatic images that really give a theatric feel to the brochure. It is a personal brochure (+) in that it explains the goals of Tantalus to give the viewer a theatric performance like no other.

This past week, we all did well to meet the goals and criteria for our first draft. I was responsible for developing the early stages of our first draft brochure. I had a good layout, and used similar ideas from Tantalus’ last brochures. I tried to tie in the same feel of their last brochures with a more dramatic and theatric tone. I used more modern pictures from a pretty recent play that Tantalus has put on. The combination of these more modern pictures with a dramatic theme made our brochure stand out more from the past brochures.

Reading Response Week 6

I believe that chapters 24 and 37 greatly effecting the composing of my documents this week. In my draft for the brochure, I tried to focus on how I could make their past brochures better. In chapter 24, it tells about how to use images to portray a greater message and how to capture the essence of the document through visualization. This has to do with the design because I tried to base the design around the visual imagery. The images were the dramatic view of the brochure and really gave a theatric feel to the document.

This week was a learning process for all in our group. The main topic of discussion had to do with how we planned to have all of us work on the Gantt chart and then submit it accordingly. It was difficult to swap the Gantt chart back and forth and edit it. What I contributed to the Gantt chart construction was an aesthetic touch. I added a simple border which helps one focus on the information given. I bolded specific words in order to help people understand what they are reading. It is a good chart, and I helped make it easier to read as well as a little bit more formal.
