I found it suprising the amount of detail that should be used when testing for usability. You need to consider it from every aspect which also makes it difficult. The research is very deep and extensive it is necessary and will provide all the data needed. Good read.

User Tests
I found this weeks assigned reading very useful, especially the reading on how to set up the user tests. The user tests suggestion could include parts such as surveys, interviews, scales among others which will help in the overall results that one can include and find very useful on the usability report.

blog 6/16 BEN PHILLIPS
The article about “Research” was very interesting. It is very important today to have the best information available to support the ideas of your discoveries. It also gave me a idea of where to find information. I especially liked the part about how not all information is online. There are some journals and other documents that can only be available in libraries.

Reading Response: Usability Testing
Since I was absent the first couple days of class this week, I found this reading more helpful then normal, as I was somewhat confused as to what our current project would entail. This reading was so informative, each sections pretty much gave step by step directions on how to perform a usability test, and what it involves, surveys, interviews, editorial and technical reviews etc. The section that I found most helpful was Aids from a Guide for Informal usability Testing. This section talked about how to defend your conclusions, and how you conclusions about such a product may be attacked.

REading Response: Letters
I found the reading on letters very informative. I had no clue that letters played such an important role in business. The idea that there are so many templates and software devices to help businesses format letters shows just how important letters are in corporations. What distinguishes a memo from a letter was also interesting. The fact the it is important to spend money on a letter head, possibly engraved, so that a client knows that you care are are being formal with them is something that I would not have thought was as important as the article made it sound. Good information!

Testing Documents
The readings were a good review of what we have been talking about in class the past two days. A couple of the readings made me go back and think about the questions and tasks that our group already created for our surveys and user tests. There are also some good comments and things to think about when looking at the data, especially in the last readings on "aids from a guide for informal usability testing".

Usability testing
I wasn't very surprised at the amount of work that goes into user testing and document testing. I have worked in market research for the past four years, so I have seen how well-developed surveys and documents need to be to obtain accurate, useful information. I think, though, that the tricky part isn't obtaining information. The tricky part is compiling the information in a way that is useful to a study.

Usabilty testing
In order to offer an information to the organization that meet its needs. Writers should gather, find and use information. There are many ways to gather the information. One possible way is field research. It is a good souce of information when the writer need local information.
Accordign to usabilty testing articles, there are many methods to test Documents. However, I like surverys the most because it is easy to gather all the information in a very short period of time.

usability testing
Usability testing is very important for a company when they develop a product. User tests are used to see if the product a company is testing is suitable for different kinds of people. In order to get the best data out of the testing, a great amount of research is needed. The success of the project being test depends of the amount of research being done.

usabil;ity testing
I was surprised on how well thought and planned research studies need to be planned in order to get the most out of them. The results of the test also need to document thoroughly to be useful in determining how well something works and also to identify problem areas. I also found it interesting that how small things can affect the outcome of tests like not being prepared can unnerve the participant and affect the outcome of the test.
