Week 6 Reading Response - The Rhetoric of the Memo and E-Mail

A memo is a common request in the business setting. The two things all should know about the memo is that it’s usually an internal document that’s written between individuals within the same organization; it’s also typically a short, brief document and has a standard template. While I’ve been getting more comfortable using Word 2007, I have found a lot of templates they have available. I’m sure that when I work with a specific company, there will be a specified template to use when writing memos, but it’s a nice thing for me to practice.

Reading Response

Reading Memos and emails was really beneficial to us.As always the readings assigned to us have some piece of knowledge for us. I learnt that attachments which is a word I see prolly a millions time while I mail is very important. It cab be of so many uses and also a saviour. When we send attachemnts the user can actually save it which can help in case the email is deleted. Also, it helps in keeping a track of when and the time.

Group Meeting After Client Meeting

We met up in class after the client meeting one of the days. We had enough material with us to go about. He had sent us the old brochures and also gave us ideas to go about. We divided the work and started working on it. It was fun and I learnt a lot during this project.

Client Meeting

Our Group divided into two. Chris nd myself went to Cafe Royale and met up with the staff. We got the contact information. Later on, we met up with the president of the martial arts club. After negotiation, we came to a conclusion to do brochure for his club as it is not very famous in Purdue and most people are not aware of it. Our group presented him the idea of how to make the club more popular and spreading awareness and attracting people.

Last meeting

We met yesterday and completed the benefits required in the brochure. We also went through small changes in the format and color combinations. We need to do the final touch up. Today , we presented our brochure , whats in it and why we went for AHHS.

Our group had our final meeting yesterday. We touched up our brochure and talked about the presentation. This project went very well and I learned a lot about different marketing tools for companies to use. I also saw the importance of meeting and listening to a clients needs and wants and incorporating that into the project. We will be turning our final project in on Monday.

First, I explained the choices of organizations we started with and the reasons why we chose the Human Society. Mallory talked about the meetings we had with the Human Society during our Monday phone interview and our Tuesday meeting.
