White Paper Project
Week 5 Reading Response - Style and Editing
Tue, 07/29/2008 - 13:09 — hkurtzWhen writing a piece, it’s not only important to address and support your overall goal of the work, but it’s just as important that the sentence structure and word choices are correct as well. To convey your point or argument, you want to come off as strong and informed as possible, and syntax can have a negative effect on your goal or a positive one. WHAT you say is just as important as HOW you say it.

Presentations
Tue, 07/22/2008 - 20:00 — Jose_ErnestoThe presentations for the White Paper Project showed how much the students are concerned with oil prices and the need to find renewable sources of energy. Three of the five groups in class were related to this topic. This is going to be a big part of the 2008 elections and will definitely affect how people are going to vote. Our group presented different alternatives to improving the crisis. First of all we proposed the use of hybrid vehicles as a source of transportation. This will decrease the gas emissions.

Research Post #3-white paper
Sat, 07/19/2008 - 11:43 — dmichticWe submitted the rough draft and Nashid and I reviewed each others part of the draft. I began designing the slides for our class presentation. That night Ron emailed me the final copy that he assembled and I "butchered" the document. Unfortunately, we had a group member, Goang, that gave us work that wasn't satisfactory. I basically redid his part of the presentation.

Research Post #2-white paper
Sat, 07/19/2008 - 11:38 — dmichticWe submitted the outline and are now working on the rough draft. Ron and I met to discuss the draft and began choosing the format. I used my sources (Huffington and Washington Post) to draft a copy of my portion. Ron agreed to assemble the document, so when I was finished formating and getting pictures I emailed it to Ron.

Research Post #1-white paper
Sat, 07/19/2008 - 11:34 — dmichticOn the first day we got together, My group members and I gathered iformation on our possible solutions. I was soing more and more research on the political aspect of lowering gasoline prices. We each constructed our own portion of the outline after we completed the memo. The first day ended with us dividing up the parts of the outline. I took government regulation of gas prices. My main sources found were from the Huffington Post and The Washington Post.

White Paper Final Result by Nan Lu
Wed, 07/16/2008 - 13:03 — nanlu665On Monday, our group went as the first to do the presentation. I was responsible for presenting the solution section. Hector gave a good introduction and transfer to Isa who explained the information on a general level and then Tim presented a more in-depth presentation.
When I started my section, I found myself still extremely nervous even after many times of practices.
However, I believe we did a very good job working together. We were able to accomplish the planned goal under good timing and in a good quality.

White Paper Project- Final thoughts
Wed, 07/16/2008 - 12:46 — hpatinoOur project is due today. It was a long two weeks but the project is complete. It was nice working with Isa, Tim, and Nan in completing it. The project was not easy. we spent alot of time on it, considering the topic that we chose. I think we could have done better as a group on the presentation but overall I am pleased with the work that we did.
