Service Learning Project Blog #1
Our class was informed of Project #3 and after discussing the deliverables, everyone was to pick groups. I was lucky enough to have worked with Kara and Mallory during Project #2, so we knew because we worked so well together, we would definitely work as a group again. Amanda also joined our group and then we started to brainstorm ideas of organizations. Out of our 3 options, we decided to choose the Humane Society in Lafayette.
We thought about some ideas we could propose to just have some sort of idea as to what they would need/how we could help them. First thing was to contact the organization. Mallory called them and left a message on their machine. We would all be able to meet with the “Almost Home Humane Society” on Friday, July 18th, but Mallory never received a call back from the office. We were finally able to set up a meeting for Monday morning and speak to the woman who deals with informational programs within the Humane Society. We asked her questions regarding certain issues encountered with new pet owners, and the common questions or concerns owners have.
We got a lot of information from our phone interview and from there, we were ready to draft up the content for our brochure.
