public document update

Our group (Lauren, Michael, and Julia) have decided on a design for our brochure. Now we are working on putting all of our information into the brochure. We will finish our brochure today and then we will send to our client to get their feedback. After we get their feedback we will see if they want us to make any changes.

public document update

Our group (Lauren, Michael, Julia) presented our proposal to our client. We discussed that we thought a brochure would be the best option and she agreed with us. Now we will start working on the design of the brochure.

reading response

In this reading they discussed the similarities between a memo and an e-mail. Both of these documents are relatively brief, are informal, but are still official. An e-mail is very similar to a memo since it contains the To:, From:, Subject:, and Date:, but emails are generally less formal. I thought it was interesting when they discussed the guidelines for sending messages in the to attach or not to attach section. I thought that the reasons for sending an attachment were interesting. They made sense, however I rarely ever send attachments.

white paper progress

Today we had our presentation for the white paper project. I think that our power point turned out good and we all feel that the presentation went well. Now we are just making sure that we have everything printed out and we are getting it ready to turn in tomorrow.

white paper progress

Our had our rough draft completed for Friday and had another group do a peer review. We got some good suggestions on how to improve our paper. On Sunday our group met to finalize the paper. We fixed some spelling errors added some pictures, and added citations. We also put together the power point for our presentation.

group progress

Our group (Michael, Lauren, Julia) finished our outline on Monday and got it approved. There are only a couple of changes that we need to make that won't be hard. Our group met today and we divided up the paper. We are all going to write a draft for the part of the outline we completed. Tomorrow we will work on putting our rough draft of the paper together.

Reading Response

I thought the reading was somewhat boring. I did not really learn anything new from this reading either. I felt like I learned most of this information in high school or in previous English classes here at Purdue. The part of the reading that I did find interesting was the information on what makes a source good. However, I think the information on the credibility of sources is very important, especially for web sources. I think a lot of people just assume that the information that they find on the web is credible, and that is not the case.

white paper project idea - class 2

I think a good topic for the white paper project would be dealing with the over crowding in the co-rec. There is a problem with over crowding not only in the entire facility but also in the parking lot.

Rhetoric of Professional Writing - Julia Axt

After reading all of the material I feel I have a much better understanding of what we will be doing in this class. The reading was very informative and grabbed my attention. I think that this reading would be extremely beneficial to anyone, seeing as how just about everyone will have to write these kinds of documents at some point in their life. For me this reading was very helpful because I have never had to write a resume or cover letter before. I am also not a very strong writer. I thought the reading had very good guidelines and lots of useful information.
