Toth - PMU Technical Description Draft

I have converted my InDesign File into .pdf form and it is attached. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to open this file. For your peer review, could you please do it in a list format being sure to specify where on the brochure your comment pertains to. If you run into any problems, please let me know ASAP.

Thanks,

Dave

Peer Review

Quick note - The first two times I tried to open the PDF, Firefox stopped responding, though it may just be my poor old computer and not a problem with the file.

Anyways, I guess I will refer to each section as a panel so you can figure out which area I'm trying to talk about. Smiling

Page 1, right-most panel - I would shrink the caption and maybe add "Purdue Memorial Union, main entrance" or something like that. It seems a little redundant the way it is now since the words Purdue Memorial Union appear twice right next to each other.

Page 1, middle panel - I really like how this is all center-aligned! It cuts down on "jagged edges" and really looks nice to the eye. Is the sentence meant to be cut off in the middle, or does it continue on another page? (It's hard to picture how the brochure will open after it is folded!)

Page 1, left-most panel - You might be able to remove "...off of State Street." from the caption. It seems a little wordy.

Page 2, right panel - I really like how you managed to fit the text and the pictures together without it looking jumbled.

Page 2, middle panel - No criticisms here, this panel looks great.

Page 2, left panel - The different font sizes are kind of distracting - If possible, maybe you could add/remove content to make one uniform font size work for each section?

That's all from me, great job!

Hartmann - Peer Critique

Dave,

Just to settle any fears, I didn't have any problems opening the document. I did, however, print it out and pretend like I was using it. Doing so, I have some concerns.

As I open the first page, I'm faced with "Union Assembly Area" on the left and "Main Entrance" on the right. Maybe I'm crazy but I read these two pages before I open the next page. Problem with that is I'm reading about the Great Hall before I know where it is. Also, your caption under Main Entrance is missing a "D" in builDing.

 Opening the second crease...

Immediately I ask "Is there a difference between the Grand Hall and the Great Hall?" Actually that's a serious question that I should probably know by now.

On the very back panel, or center on the first page, Purdue Memorial Union History, the section ends mid-sentence. All of a sudden I'm flipping the pamphlet every which way searching for the end of the sentence like a "Where's Waldo?" picture and thinking, "Oh no, its 'The Sopranos' all over again!".

I really like your content. I think you did a great job putting together each individual panel, but for some reason seeing Union Assembly Areas before Main Entrance bugs me. Its like being on a tour that goes from outside to inside to outside then back inside again. I'm making it sound like a much bigger deal than it is, but still.

I'm sorry about the odd tone of this review but I was going crazy doing all these reviews in a row and needed some humor. If you have any questions about what I've tried to say, let me know and I'll gladly explain myself.
