Dear Mr. Pickering,
I am applying for the copyediting job posted on Monster.Com on May 13, 2008. I
am Amanda Bradley, graduate in creative writing from Purdue University. My
years of experience in classroom workshop training and experience in tutoring
student writing will allow me to make an immediate contribution to your company.
The work ethic that I have developed through a lifetime of participating in,
and coaching athletics, like my time spent with the Purdue University Rowing Team,
has instilled in me how to set and reach goals. This ethic and dedication was
significant during my time at the Muscular Dystrophy Association. It was there
that I developed a passion and efficiency in fundraising that led me to found
an event sponsoring the “Tabs for Tots” philanthropy in the Greek system at Purdue.
My mother teaches students with autism, and my time volunteering with them has
rejuvenated my passion for helping others, and my mother’s involvement in
education is what fuels my desire to work with educational materials. During my
time in college I was fortunate to have part-time jobs that allowed me to still
volunteer when I was needed. I worked bartending at both small local bars and
upscale country club lounges. These opportunities have given me the ability to
interface successfully with a diverse range of people, and taught me the
abilities to be tactful, perform repetitive tasks, and work unsupervised.
Thank you for the opportunity to join your expanding company. I look forward
to hearing from you about this exciting position. I can be reached at
ALBradley@purdue.edu or by phone at (734)968-8942. Congratulations on your
success and I look forward to meeting you.
Sincerely,
Amanda Bradley
