English 421K, Technical Writing

Attached are my rough draft and questions. It was done in word 2008 so if there are big formatting issues keep in mind it went through a rollback.

Final format is still kind of up in the air. Also, I am assuming my audience is already very familiar with email usage. The reason it is shorter is because I want to keep this very general with something that would be similar to the wallet card I did in the SSINFO process description.

The approach I was taking for this was to have a kind of wallet quick reference. This would fit on a business card or something similar so students could carry it around until they become comfortable with SSINFO. I made this in Word 2007 so if there are formatting issues with the .doc file just ignore them! Also, right = left. I made a bonehead mistake.

The content in this document is very informative and well organized. Each paragraph is subject based which I would consider appropriate for an intended audience of well read people. Regarding the document’s capacity to appeal to adolescent children, I feel there are many design flaws that prevent that from occurring. Firstly, what the document has in information it completely lacks in design. Because each paragraph is subject based, I feel that using bullets would be a more appropriate way to reduce word count

Attached is my Cover Letter Rough Draft.

This document in its current state is more reminiscent of a journal article than something used as a training guide. My first recommendation would be to analyze the audience. Not only should the scorpion guide be aimed at the faculty of the school, but also the students as well. The author clearly states on page 105 that "...Using...Education to reduce the fear of scorpions will help prevent unnecessary treatments." For this reason, I think that the document itself should be made into two forms. The first form would be for distribution to faculty.
