Let's Introduce Ourselves

My name is Jovan Lozevski and I’m from Crown Point, Indiana which many of you may know as “the region.” I’m a graduating senior this fall with a major in Retail Management. I love the real estate/housing market and in the future I plan on being a developer somewhere on the west coast. Throughout this course I hope to get a better understanding of writing in a professional setting, and in my free time I like to work out and play golf.

Hello! My name is Elizabeth Day and I'm from Lafayette, but have been studying abroad in New Zealand for the past semester. I'm a senior this fall in Youth, Adult, and Family Services. After I graduate, I hope to work for the Teach For America corps for two years or travel and then go to grad school. I'd like to learn more about business writing in general in this course because I've never really studied it before. In my free time, I like to dance, scrapbook, and spend time with family and friends.

My name is Ross Allen and I am from Greenfield, Indiana. I am in Building Construction Management and will be starting my Senior year when we return to school in August. My career goals are to either work my way up in an established construction company or to become an entrepreneur and start my own company after being in the industry for a few years. My goals for this course are to become more familiar with the writing methods and various forms of communications needed to succeed in the business world in the future. Many of my hobbies are boating, snow skiing, and football.

My name is Bethony Vernaglia and I am from Anaheim Hills, California. When we return to school in the fall I am going to be a senior in Management. Once I graduate, I would like to work in sales, but I am not exactly sure which type of sales I'd like to work in just yet. By taking this course, I hope to better my knowledge and understanding of writing in the professional world. In my spare time I love playing with my Boston Terrior, Daisy, working out, and going to the beach.

Hi, my name is Morgan McDonald. I am originally from Hillsboro, Indiana; however, I have been living in Fishers, Indiana the past three summers. I am a senior in Retail Management, while I am also working toward a minor in Fine Arts. I just graduated from the Fashion Institute of Technology in May, receiving an Associates degree in Fashion Merchandising. While in New York, I interned in the Visual Merchandising department of Escada’s corporate office. This internship made me realize that I want to pursue a career in Visuals. I am taking this course because I want to develop the writing practices that are necessary for the business environment. When I’m not working at the Emporium clothing boutique, I spend a lot of my time scrapbooking—it’s addicting!

Hello Everyone! My name is Elizabeth Bruinsma. I am from Grand Rapids, MI. I recently transferred to Purdue from Michigan Tech University. I am currently a Liberal Arts student, but plan to codo over into Management. I am a Junior Standing. I am not entirely sure what I want to do when I graduate but I am thinking along the lines of working somewhere in Marketing or Human Resource Management. I hope to attain excellent writing skills from this course and hope to improve my resume-writing skills. My favorite thing to do is visit with my friends, and play with my miniature schnauzer puppy named Romeo.

Hey, my name is Jimmy Gaffney and I am from Sebastopol, CA. Go about an hour north of San Francisco and you're there. I am double majoring in biology (ecology, evolutionary, and population biology) and political science (international relations). I am going to be a senior this year, but I will not graduate until spring of 2010. So, four more wonderful semesters to go. I have not yet made a specific career choice. However, I am completely sure that I will either go to grad school in bio or polisci, or law school hopefully back in California. From this course, I hope to greatly improve my writing skills so I am able to compete in the work world as writing is an important skill to possess. As for personal info, I would say my biggest hobby is computers. I build them, modify them, and stay current with new computer technology. I mainly use them to game as that is probably my famous pass time when I'm not working, hanging with friends, or at school.

My name is Rajiv Shahapurkar and I am from Mundelein, IL. I am a Financial Planning Major and I am a Senior. Once I graduate in Decmber, I hope to fall somewhere in the Financial Industry sector, anywhere from being a Wealth Manager, to a Financial Analyst. I hope to aquire better business writing skills which will enable me to convey effective ideas in normal business settings. This course will become very helpful once I enter the Financial Industry. I'm a pretty laid-back type of person, and very outgoing. Therefore on the weekends you will probably find me outside, or at the Purdue Bars!

My name is Kevin Kocsis, and I am from Munster, Indiana, which is located in northwest part of the state. I am going into my fourth year at Purdue, and as of next semester, I am going to be an OLS major. After I finish school, I hope to get a job with a good company that will be able to give me some good experience so that one day I may be able to open a business of my own. I hope that this class will help me better understand the way that professional papers should be written and formatted so that people will have the utmost respect for your writing style. In my free time I enjoy fishing, boating and just spending time outdoors with my friends.

My name is Sheila Miller. I am from Rossville, Indiana which is only about a half an hour away from the lovely Purdue. I will be a junior next fall studying management. This summer I am interning at Caterpillar in Lafayette and learning so much. I hope to work at a large company like Caterpillar someday but am not quite sure exactly what I would like to do. With this course I hope to be able to compose professional communication in the workplace which will help me daily in my current position. I am living at home for the summer and am happy to be able to spend time with my family but especially my 3 year old Yorkshire Terrier, Zoe! I have been on a wait list for this class and was just added yesterday. Sorry for the delay!
