Project Log for Week 16 - Finishing It All Up

This week I was wrapping up all of my projects. I finished all my Project 4 documents and successfully combined them into one .pdf file (a handy skill to have!).

As for Project 5, I have finished completing the PMB and my website. I am waiting on my partner to finish his. All the documents are posted though and the links to the sites (well at least mine for now) is in my Project 5 blog.

Dear Dr. Blakesley:

Project 5 was a collaborative project between Patrick and myself. We decided to create an online portfolio that would allow not only us to create our own portfolios, but also create a template that will allow future students to create their own portfolios.

Dear Dr. Blakesley:

Project 4 was the first project that I learned to design multiple different pages. I was asked to create this manual for my EPICS team. I wanted an easily readable document with lots of pictures so that building these homes was easy to do not only for the construction managers but the Haitian volunteers.

Project Log for Week 15 - Paperwork

This week I have been finishing up my "paperwork" (PMB) for both projects 4 & 5. I find that completin these before the actual design document is helpful when trying to think of how the audience would view it.

Patrick and I have also been working on seperate websites, so there will probably be two final designs in for project 5.

Peer Review for Projects 4 & 5

This peer review encompasses the PMB for Project 4 and an online portfolio for Project 5.

Questions regarding the PMB...

  • Is the purpose for the document clear throughout the PMB?
  • Are the personas varied enough and have clear uses for the manual?
  • Does the wireframe show the simplicity and visual side of the document?

Design Log for Week 14 - For Print and Web

This week I have been working with both Project 4 and Project 5.

Project 4 for is a manual that will be used as a disaster relief construction manual in foreign countries. It needs to be a simple document made for printing in mass quanity as well as off a basic computer printer. The design is much simpler than the previous print documents that I have created.

Project Log for Week 14 - Juggling Projects

This week has been a challenge because I am now juggling two projects.

Project 4 I have completed the questionnaire and the design documents and still need to focus on the PMB and make changes to my design docs after their upcoming peer review.

Design Log for Week 13 - Simple, yet Professional?

This week I have decided to take on designing a construction manual for the EPICS HFH disaster relief project. The manual should be easily read and used in the field (which in this case happens to be Haiti) so that HFHI construction managers can build houses quickly in the wake of a natural disaster.

The manual must be incredible simple not only to make it more affordable, but to insure that it can be produced anywhere. (The simplest way to do this is not produce a final print manual, but a .pdf version that can even be printed off personal computers.)

Project Log for Week 13 - Making Professional Manuals

This week we again are starting a new project. This time I will be creating the design for a construction manual that will be presented to HFHI (Habitat for Humanity Internation) that the Disaster Relief team inside of the EPICS HFH team will be using for their current project in Haiti.
