Project 3 Presentations
The next major date is March 25th. On the 25th you will present your progress thus far. Here's what I am looking for for the presentation:
- a concise yet specific compare and contrast of the Wikipedia and Britannica articles. Remember that everyone will not be intimately familiar with your project, so provide them with a general background of the topic and any special terminology if necessary. The compare and contrast should note important information common to both articles and highlight and discrepancies or omissions.
- discussion of the major sources (4-5) applicable to your project. You should have read these sources by the time of your presentation. You should briefly discuss how you found these sources, and what additional sources they might have led you to. You should also be ready to discuss how the source relates to your wikipedia investigation.
- your conclusion, in addition to summarizing your findings thus far, should indicate where you see yourselves moving next.
These presentations are works in progress. I do not expect polished, finished product. However, I also expect you to be able to speak/read with the command that comes from research and drafting. Everyone in the group should play some role in the presentation.
The presentation should be accompanied with a single-page handout. Make this visually interesting. The handout shouldn't merely reproduce your paper, it should augment your presentation. Strong handouts often include an annotated outline of the talk, important direct quotations, and key passages from the talk.
