INTERVIEW SETTING
I met with Jeanne Norberg last Wednesday, March 26, at 8 p.m. Because of her busy schedule when she is on campus, she suggested I conduct the interview at her house. So, I traveled to her house that evening and did the interview. As I stated before, we knew each other from prior interviews and situations related to Purdue University, as she is the director of Purdue News Service. Norberg is a former journalist for a local radio (WASK) and newspapers (The Purdue Exponent and Journal & Courier) so she her interviewing experience was deep.
During the last three and a half years at Purdue and The Purdue Exponent, I have come to hear and see a common name at Purdue University when it comes to communicating: Jeanne Norberg.
INTRODUCTION
Professional writing. A career path, field of study and a broad label for many things related to communication. Who does it? What is involved? How is life in the field of professional writing? To answer these questions, I sat down and talked with Mr. Allen Brizee. Brizee is in the graduate program of Rhetoric and Composition at Purdue University.
Three semesters ago when I switched into the English Department I took a look at both Creative Writing and Professional Writing. (Yes, I am finally taking the Intro class for PW.) At that time, I am not sure what I thought Professional Writing was. Creative writing seemed self-explanatory. With Professional Writing, I suppose my thoughts were limited to publishing, journalism and public relations.
