Progress Report on Interview with Rita Rud
Interview Account
I am majoring in English literature as well as following the Writing and Publishing track of the Professional Writing degree requirements. Literature and creative writing are important to me both personally and as potential elements of my future career. When considering possible avenues to securing a respondent for the Interview Report, it was clear to me that the interview that would produce the most valuable information for me would be with a professional whose current standing matched my career goals.
Purdue University’s system of libraries includes twelve on-campus libraries, but many student users would be hard pressed to name three or four, and could probably pinpoint the locations of fewer than that. Local readers’ minds may jump to Border’s big name, and consequently pay Border’s big prices, without even thinking of looking for reading material in the used sections of Von’s Bookstore and the West Lafayette Public Library.
The map I’m constructing shows the locations of libraries and booksellers on campus and in the surrounding area with the goal of linking readers with places to procure books.

Introduction
In my proposal document, I discussed my plan for a map of the West Lafayette area that would link readers with local venues that either lend or sell books, perhaps in addition to providing other services. In this document, I analyze the techniques and rhetorical effectiveness of similar documents.
Map A: “Purdue Libraries Locations” Map
Purpose:
The purpose of this document is to provide Purdue students (and other university libraries’ users with access to the Web) with a visual representation of a complete listing of libraries on campus.
