Attached is my Interview Report rough draft.
*The PDF version doesn't seem to be working, so I have also attached it as a word document.
At the Interview
After finding a place to park in downtown Lafayette, I walked half a block to the Journal and Courier, an old, towering building on Sixth Street. I was meeting with Julie Doll, the executive editor of the Lafayette Journal and Courier and the editor of Lafayette magazine, who has been involved in a journalism career since 1979.
Tom J. Bechman, the editor of a state-based magazine, Indiana Prairie Farmer, has been involved in a writing career for over 25 years. An interview with him will serve to inform an audience of writing students about the experiences of a writer. The interview is on the afternoon of March 28th, in Bechman's home. The magazine is a part of Farm Progress Magazine Group, an agricultural publishing company that stretches across the United States with 2 national magazines, a weekly newspaper, and 18 regional and state-based publications, including the Indiana Prairie Farmer.
Many Purdue students each year move off campus into local apartments, making the decision to live on their own for the first time. Finding a place to live can be stressful, overwhelming, and time-consuming. From simple observation, I have discovered that it can be difficult to find information about apartments in the West Lafayette area, even with the help of the internet.
This document’s purpose is to inform students of West Lafayette apartments, while emphasizing location. Even the profiles highlight the locations of the apartments, obligating the audience to be focused on location. The document also works to condense information that would normally take hours to find on one’s own. While some details are given on each apartment, this document more-so serves to help students realize how many apartment options are available to them.
Introduction
The documents examined centralize on the same topic (apartments): the first promotes one apartment complex without mentioning other options, and the second lays out multiple apartments available to the audience. By combining features of both, a new and better map of apartments in the West Lafayette area can be produced.
The process of looking for a new place to live is often overwhelming and stressful, especially for students who are moving off-campus for the first time. It is difficult to choose which apartment is best. Students need to be aware of all their options, and be aware of what each facility has to offer. Furthermore, apartment-hunters should be aware of extra costs involved with living on their own (food, electric bills, etc…), before they make any decisions.
