The Goonies - Project 3 Final

Erin's picture

The blog entry serves as a cover note for The Goonies Final Project 3 Deliverables.  For Project 3, we created user documentation and a multimedia presentation explaining Google Calendar to our client, Purdue's Center for Career Opportunities.

Attached to this note is our final user documentation, final multimedia presentation, and a screencast (in swf format) for Google Calendar created in Adobe Captivate.

All of our final deliverables implemented some revision suggested by our peers.  We would like to note that we recognize the advantages of having a voiceover in our presentation.  However, we were unable to add a voiceover to our presentation as none of us had voice recording capabilities.

Thanks for all your help and we would appreciate any comments!

Project Log Wk 16

Our Project has been going very well over the past week. This past week we looked ahead to see what was due, and established group responsibilities over the weekend.  It was helpful to split up the group responsibilities, to make it easier for us to communicate and get the work done in a reasonable amount of time with effective use of teamwork. Over the past week Erin and Jacob worked on the multimedia presentation while Dane and myself worked on the user documentation and Brian edited both pieces of work, because he worked on the usability study previously. This worked well for us because it allowed us to accomplish drafts of each assignment, and then send it out to the entire group to be edited prior to submitting it on the course website. We have been communicating very well through email as well. We chose to communicate this way because we all have very different schedules, and this allows us to send ideas, information, documents, etc to the entire group at one time.

Project Log - Week 16

I felt as though this week was the most productive so far.  We mainly created the guts of our project as our user documentation and multimedia presentation drafts were due.  I think our group did an excellent job splitting up the work as everyone helped out to get it done.  I did not work on the multimedia project but I was very pleased to see the end result.  I had a lot to do with the user documentation draft and I feel as though we have put together a good set of instructions, but after revising and looking at other groups work I feel as though I can make it much better.  I will be adding one more section to give detail on how to add a shared calendar to your own and I will also be changing the format.  I had to do it on MS Word 2003 so I did not have the capability of using templates that would make the aesthetics much better.  Overall I think we are on a good pace to turn in excellent work.

Project Log week 16

This week we got a lot done in finishing the project. We did our user documentation draft and our mulitmedia presentation. I think our multimedia presentation looks really good, and professionally done. I didn't do the work on it, but I think my group mates did a real solid job on it. I also thought our user documentation was pretty good too. I think it covered all bases. I think we are in a good place with the project right now.

This week we worked on completing the first drafts of our deliverables. I worked with Erin on creating the multimedia presentation. We have a 2 part presentation including a PowerPoint with an overview of the benefits Google Calendar and the Captivate screencast of a sample user working with a ficticious CCO calendar. Over the next few days we will continue to revise and improve our deliverables. Next week we will submit the final results of our work.

Week 16 Project Log: First Drafts!

This week was a very producitve week for The Goonies. We split the work up on the Multimedia Presentation and the User Documentation. We submitted drafts of both those documents on Wednesday for peer review. We also have gotten to see what a lot of the other groups did on their parts of the project. Additionally, we recieved a lot of really helpful feedback on our usability report that should help us in creating our final drafts. Only one more week of the class!

We have attached the User Documentation text-only draft, for the Goonies. This User Documentation provides step-by-step instructions to using the Google Calender web application. Any feedback would be appreciated.

Project Log - Week 15

This week was very productive.  We all started out by finishing our individual usability test and going from there.  After reading and doing our peer reviews we emailed eachother to figure out how we were going to split up the work for the week.  After talking and giving each other our opinions we came to a conclusion on who was going to produce the work and how we were going to edit it.  This week there was also alot of individual work that was done such as reading responses and peer reviews.  Overall I think we have made good progress and we communicate very well.  Team members step up when they need to and that is what needs to be done to complete this project.

Project 3 Log - Week 15

The project is currently on track and we are progressing through the necessary phases. I was extremely busy this past week so only had time to assist with reviewing the document, however, I plan to work on the visual presentation next week with some members of the group to begin to bring this project to an end point. Communication has remained consistent in the group as we use email to collaborate due to our diverse schedules.
