Project Log: Week 12

csnodgra's picture

This week concluded the work on our Project 2. As a whole we did not have much to change other than some visual and organization of the instructions. We also had to write the revisions memo. We took the comments from the instructor and student feedback into consideration and updated our instructions. Once finished we used these changed to compile the revisions memo. Now we need to complete the team evaluation form and student checklist for project 2. As a whole I believe we have a solid set of instructions that will hopefully be useful in the future.

Week 12 Project Log

During week 12, Team C Squared submitted the final completed version of the Google Maps Illustrated Draft.  It was pretty much completed before this week.  After looking at the reviews from our peers and professor, we carefully edited the content and made sure the format was correct.  The group project went very smooth for an online course and I thought that Chris and I communicated very well.

Attached you will find our final draft of the project 2 instruction set for Team C Squred. Team C squared is made up of Chris Snodgrass and Cameron Mack. Our instructions will guide the user to create a webpage that incorporates the Google Maps Application. We also guide the user how to incorporate several features that are available for use. Thank you.

Work Plan

Team C Squared will probably first take the suggestions and responses into consideration and modify our instruction draft to complete it.  The instructions are all there but we might do some touch-ups to make it look a little bit better.  Chris and I talked about explaining some of the steps so users can get a better idea of the process.  All of the code is there to make Google Maps work correctly.  Lastly, we will make sure all of the formatting is correct.

Team C Squared – Work Plan

For the most part our instruction set is complete. By complete, I mean all the instructions are there. We still need to add an introductory paragraph explaining some of the general knowledge required and assumed for the reader to have. Also, that the instruction set is designed for working with Dreamweaver, however the code would work in any webpage design program that allows the user to enter code. We also need to go through and make sure all the formatting is the same throughout the document and that we have broken the steps down where they are easily completed. Last, we will make sure and incorporate any feedback that is given to us.

Week 11 Project Log

This week my teammate and I finalized our usability test for our instructions draft. We felt that the usability test that we had used as a draft just needed some small updating. We applied these updates to finalize the usability test. We also continued updating our instructions draft. We used the recommendation of a classmate and added a few more visuals to the instructions. We also added the final steps. These included adding a marker to the map and adding a bubble with text when clicked. The instructions are nearing the finalized stage. We are looking forward to getting more feedback on the set that we recently finished. We are slightly concerned that our instruction set may not quite meet the desired length and need to expand on the more technical items.

Project Log - Week 11

This week out team completed the final usability test and instruction draft.  We met together earlier this week to compile each of our individual instruction drafts.  We added markers to the Google Map instructions.  One classmate gave us a suggestion to add a few more pictures and graphics to show the user the menus.  These graphics were added along with a few more detailed steps.  I hope that other individuals will give us feedback to make our instructions more user friendly if needed.  Our team also has responded to another team’s usability test and instruction draft.  Hopefully it will give the team great feedback.

How to integrate Google Maps into a personal webpage

For this usability test we would like to test the instructions that we have created to integrate Google Maps into a blank personal webpage that is created in Dreamweaver. Please read the directions carefully and follow them as described. Then answer the questions so we may determine the effectiveness of our instruction set.

Usability Test - Draft

Attached is the usability test draft for how to integrate Google Maps into a personal webpage. Feedback is much appreciated.

Some thoughts on the draft:

It seems the toughest task will be entering the code correctly. There is a specific way to do this, and hopefully we covered how to do it correctly. Also, I think the screenshot of the correctly entered code should help greatly.
