Project Log: Week 12

Upon the completion of week twelve brought the completion of the Illustrated Instructions Project. The several week project was broken down into many steps and completed with a team member. The final goal was to form a set of instructions that were both useful for the reader and also easy to perform. With the help of group evaluations and by teams completing our usability tests we were able to form a very educational set of instructions teaching users the different aspects of the Google Calender Program.

Project 2 Team Derailer

This is Dan and Rob's final instuctions along with usiblity test.  We feel that we have refined our instructions well due to alot of great feedback.  We feel these instuctions are more than substantial for a novice to learn Google Calander.

Instructions are attached

Plan for week 12

For this week we really need to work on our instructions, they need to be better formated and the graphics need to flow better though the document.  We plan on meeting tomorrow to plan what we need to fix then we are going to meet again wed to make sure it is all together and ready to submit, over all we should be close to finished.

Work Plan

There are several things that Rob and I need to touch up and correct before the final submission of our project. The peer reviews served as a very useful tool in helping us see mistakes in our work. With the peer review it brought in an outside source and used someone who is not familiar with the program to try and figure it out. Things that we thought were clear other people found flaws with because they have not used the program before.

Project Log: Week 11

In this past week me and my partner made some good headway on the project. We basically finished up all of the steps and put them in a format that we find to be easy to follow. With that we posted our usability test so that other people can evaluate our directions and bring up any questions they have. We expect there to be some difficulties throughout the directions and with the usability test we hope that we will be able to correct those problems and make our directions as easy as possible to follow. We know that our format is not quite right yet and there are some places that raise questions. We hope with the peer feedback though that we will be able to correct any problems and have an understandable set of instructions.

Project Log Week 9

This week a lot of progress was made on out project. First
the individual instructions drafts, this was a good opportunity to put a person
input on how my group’s instructions should look, and laid a foundation for our
final instructions.  I talked with my
partner both before making these and then we compared our work aft wards.  For Wednesday we met to make our usability
test.  This helped us to analysis what we
had created thus far and what we needed to do to create a great document. Over
all this was the most productive week of the project and we have a good
foundation to move towards completing the project.

Project Log: Week 9

So far our project has been moving along quite smoothly. We have already recieved feedback on our usability test. We discovered some things that we need to work and clarify. The feedback has been a great help in making this project the best that we can. Overall, our most useful form of communication has been through the phone. We tried with e-mail and AIM, but neither of us liked the response time so we decided to just use phone. We have met in person several times now and we found that the best way to work, because then we can each give instant feedback and discuss ideas. We have been working really well together and we have gotten along great on the project. We seem to have the same ideas and are going in the same direction on this project.

Google Calenders: Usability Test

Attached is a copy of our Usability Test. Our usability test spans more information than thus far available in the instructions draft. We are yet to add directions on how to add public calenders. Any feedback is appriciated. Thank you.

We are most concerned about using the options of an event. The reasons for this is due to the fact that there isn't detail about every option yet, just an overview of what the option does. We are also worried about the depth of our instructions and the wording not being clear enough.

The area that we feel will cause the greatest confusion will be the options. There are a lot of different options once you add an event such as recurring date or setting the time along with a variety of other things. We feel that some people could get those mixed up and cause confusion. We do feel however that we assesed that in our usability test.
