Dear Human Resources Manager:
I am currently a student at Purdue University majoring in Electrical Engineering Technology. I am applying for the position of Engineer III (Rotational Engineer) at your facility in Bridgman Michigan. I believe that my experiences in the U.S. Navy would make me a valuable asset to your company. I am very interested in this position as I am very intrigued with alternative energy sources. I also care a great deal about the community that I live in and know that your company has been a valuable addition to our community.
For the past several years I have been working for an adult foster care home. Although this is an entirely different type of workplace there are some similarities. Great attention to detail is paramount at both my current job and the one I am applying for. Being a team player is also important in both lines of work. I have learned to listen carefully and find thoughtful and economical solutions to problems. I believe these important qualities provide me with a good attitude and readiness to help that would be immediately beneficial if I were to obtain the position.
I am a hard worker and eager to learn new things. My communication skills have improved a great deal. I owe this to classes like business and professional communication and technical report writing. I am skilled at using Microsoft Word and Excel. I have also become skilled at Cadence, Wavestar for Oscilloscopes, Matlab, and Labview. All classes in my major have a laboratory component therefore I have accrued a great deal of time using function generators, oscilloscopes, microcontrollers, and digital multimeters.
During my junior year I completed a projects class that required me to work with in a group. My group built a weather station for monitoring weather conditions and holding data for thirty days. This was a good learning experience. It taught us to listen to our customer (Prof. Holocombe) and also to each other. We learned to work well with in a group even though we each had an individual part to do. During my senior year I am taking senior design and development which is another projects class, only I work alone. I an building a solar generator with a solar tracking system for tracking the suns
