Position Description

 
Uses Computer Aided Design (CAD) [CATIA v4 and/or V5] tools to define or revise mechanical/structural engineering product definitions. Verifies accuracy of non-technical data. Gathers relevant data for root cause analysis. Produces changes to resolve discrepancies in design packages. Works under close supervision.

Knowledge of computer aided design tools and systems (e.g., computer aided design/computer aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM), computer aided three dimensional interactive (CATIA), Mentor Graphics, Unigraphics). Able to manipulate data sets, (e.g., compare CATIA to measurement data, create stereo lithography files).

Knowledge of configuration management principles and processes to maintain the integrity of data (e.g., revision level, naming conventions, product identification numbering systems) and numerically controlled media.

Description:

Position summary:
*Create drawings and layouts for all Design Department projects per management and chief engineer requests using CATIA V5.
*Support TST NA Departments and Honda HRA-O for all designs projects.
*Perform all the skills required of an Engineer Technician. *Required to complete a measurable Design related project annually, for management review.

Qualifications:
*Bachelors Degree or higher in Design or Engineering, or equivalent bachelor’s degree discipline. Those who are within a few months of graduation may also apply.
*1-3 + Years experience in Design/Engineering.
*If no applicable experience thus far; internships / co-ops may qualify.

Primary Position responsibilities:
*Maintain project schedules.
*Use CATIA V5 to create solid models and analytical data.
*Support HRA-O as a guest engineer.
*Work with prototype at TST to help with prototype builds.
*Work with vendor to ensure proper creation of concepts.
*Attend weekly engineering meetings.
*Work on annual project per design manager request.
*Prepare technical documentation and project presentations.
*Attend all meetings per model project needs.
*Attend all training as required by TST NA.
*Keep record of all hours, overtime, and comp time.

Essential skills and experience:
*Skills using CATIA V5 design software required (2000 hrs.).
*Strong engineering design skills, solid knowledge of automotive design and standards.
*Strong Oral and Written Communication skills required.
*Computer skills: MS Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, CAD development experience.
