Final Individual Usability Test

Usability Test –Implementing
Google Maps on a Website
For this usability test, Team Google would like to test the created
instructions that integrate Google Maps into a blank personal webpage created
in Dreamweaver. Please read the
directions carefully and follow them as described. Then, answer the questions carefully so we can
determine the effectiveness of the instruction set. We are hoping to find what you have problems
with in the instructions so that we might be able to make implementing Google
Maps onto your website as easy as possible.
WARNING: While entering code into
Dreamweaver may seem straight forward, it can be easy to leave out one
character or put one in the wrong place. Also, when viewing the web page, some web
browsers may not allow this to happen because it blocks some Active X. Unfortunately, there are not any included steps
to turn this off or to work around it.
1. Please
open Dreamweaver.
a. Did
the instructions provide enough information to be able to open Dreamweaver
easily?
2. Create
a new HTML page and find the code entry screen.
a. Did
you find the shortcut on the title screen?
b. Were
there any problems determining where the coding was?
3. Delete
pre-inserted code and enter first snippet of code and change the title in the
title bar. Press F12 to see new
title.
a. Was
it clear how and where to enter the code?
b. Did
you experience any issues with changing the title?
4. Enter
second snippet of code (the code that downloads the maps from Google’s server).
a. Was
it clear how and where to enter this code?
b. Did
you have any trouble changing the center location and zoom level?
5. Enter
the third snippet of code (the code that loads the map and specifies the size).
Press F12 and Open in your
browser.
a. Did
you have any problems entering this section of code?
b. Did
you understand how to change the size of the map?
c. Did
your map open correctly in the web browser?
d. Did
your map look like the example in the instructions?
6. Add
the Large Map Control, Map Overview Control, and Map Type Control to your map. View by
pressing F12.
a. Did
you have any trouble finding where this code was to be entered?
b. Did
your map include these controls?
7. On
a scale of one to ten, how easy is it to create a webpage including Google
Maps?
8. Where

Usability response
I like how you have a warning in the begining of your usability test to warn people about the posibilities of an error in entering information. It gives people a heads up and keeps it fresh in their minds about the situation. It also warns people who are new to the program. Your test is set up nicely and flows correctly. It also have very good deliverables with great information. May i suggest bolding the main questions.
