Comment on your proposal
This is a very good proposal. Using facebook as a way to communicate seems like a very useful idea especially since facebook is used by almost all students. I only have two concerns and I am not sure if they are relevant since I have not taken ENGR 126. The first is that since the site is a way for students to connect with eachother, is it a site that will be easy for students to help eachother out on homework for instance? Sometimes it is hard to communicate over just a wall on facebook. The other one is how are the professors gongi to make sure that the students share too much information? Are they gonig to have to monitor the facebook page? Overall it was a very well writen proposal and seems like a great idea. I bet the faculty are excited to see what you come up with.

I really enjoyed reading your proposal because I remember when I took ENGR 126 my freshman year. It was interesting to see your paragraph about the client. One suggestion that I have in this paragraph is to write out engineering 126 the first time, instead if ENGR 126 (just to make it clear to the audience). When you have an engineering-related audience this might be clear, but to some people it may not be. I think it is great how you suggested facebook for this class. This is an outstanding class because it really encourages teamwork. During my first day in that class I clearly remember my professor saying that "Teamwork is working together to achieve a common objective." I remember wondering how I was going to work on a team, when I did not even know anyone in the class and really had no easy way to establish initial contact. I think facebook is a great idea because it will help to encourage communication, thereby increasing teamwork in the classroom environment!

My main comment is that I feel like your proposal is very long. There seems to be a little bit a redudancy in your paragraphs. Sometimes a client can get overwhelmed is a proposal is too long. More information can be given to them later as time goes on. My favorite part of your proposal was at the end when you put the contact infomation of all of your group members. The thing you could add to that would be the the roles of all of your group members. That is something that I will most likely inncorporate into my groups project.

I think that what your group is trying to present is a great idea. Since it is an engineering class for freshmen it would be great for them to be on the same network and group like that. Also like you said it would really help with homework problems. The one thing you will have to make sure you assure is that they cant just post the answers on there. Purdue is big on acedemic honesty and they would not allow for a student to post their answers to the rest of the group and then everyone could copy them. You will have to work with them on some way to monitor it. Other than that I think it is a great idea and good luck.

Your proposal look like it would befit the students of ENGR 126 very much, especially since most if not all of the students in the class use Facebook multiple times a day. The only problem that I see with your proposal is that you never explan how using a Facebook group is better than what ever means the students do this now. How is the Facebook group better other than being where the students are and making it easier to help them communicate with each other. Otherwise it looks good and I think that this should help them out a lot in the future semesters of this class.

I think this proposal is very interesting. I had never thought of using Facebook in this way, but the class does seem well suited for it. I think as the previous poster mentions, monitoring will also be an issue, especially if it’s a very large class (which I imagine it is). If you wanted to go even further, I’m sure there’s a lot of applications and such that would be very useful for this type of group. Overall, I think it’s a good topic and hopefully your client will like your proposal as well.
Facebook
Using Facebook or other online networking groups are very commonplace in an average student's lifestyle. While I am not currently aware of using facebook as a way for a class to congregate and communicate, this could be useful purely from the networking aspect. As always with networking sites, there are privacy concerns with becoming parts of groups and allowing people have access to information. While that is not in the scope of this project, it is still something that I would consider before a class requires students to join a Facebook group.
Excellent idea. I like how
Excellent idea.
I like how you utilize Facebook functionalities as a way of communication.
I am sure the process of communication can be a lot better since students check
their Facebook more often than Purdue webmail. By doing this you have helped
expanding the use of Facebook other than just a social networking website.

Good Proposal
I agree with the good consensus that this is a great idea for a project. Students generally find ENGR 126 to be a nightmare (many of my friends went through it) so having a support system is a good idea. Facebook is an idea place because everyone has a Facebook account. I have seen many Facebook groups regarding ENGR 126, but having faculty support and making an "official" Facebook group would be a serious improvement to students. In many of my classes we still use Purdue newgroups, which are fine, but you need a newsgroup reader (Thunderbird, Outlook Express, etc) and this is tedious, where Facebook can be accessed from anywhere. Great Proposal.
Proposal Response
This project will be a great help to ENGR 126, and I'm glad to see their using Web 2.0. What's most effective in your proposal is offering lots of relevant information on ENGR 126 and on how they can incorporate Facebook. Laying out your plan here will only make later deliverables even more effective. I look forward to the project outcomes.
In including all of this relevant information, you do good work with sentence variety to increase readability. Headings are also effective, but they can be more descriptive. In the requirements section, you could divide that into a couple of paragraphs. Overall, your writing style relies on too many passive verbs. Avoid using "there is/are" and "it is," which really undermines your writing style. More active verbs will increase readability. Also, use a font other than Times/Times New Roman.
