The Goonies - Final Project 3 Proposal

Erin's picture

Attached to this note is our final Project 3 Proposal.  We have contacted the Center for Career Opportunities (CCO) at Purdue and will be designing a set of instructions for them to implement the Google Calendar application.  Additionally, we will be creating a motivational presentation highlighting the benefits of Google Calendar.

As always, we appreciate any feedback you would like to give us!

Peer Review: Group Proposal Draft

I really like the project your group decided to go with.  I think CCO's current calendar solution can definitely be improved upon.  Your proposal is strong and I think you did a good job of pointing out the current flaws in the system and how google can improve upon them.  I also think it was a good approach to focus on how features such as syncing with outlook and sending sms message reminders could appeal to college students.  I feel as if one of the major problems you might run into is not being able to run the calendar on Purdue's web page, they seem to try and keep everything self contained.  Also, I wonder does everyone who wants ot view the calendar need a gmail account?  This may provide some other problems.

I like how you broke your Proposal into sections that separated the major topics for the project. Your utilization paragraph gave good insight into your project goals and I think you will succeed. I do think that the Google Calendar would be easier to use and better for employers and students, but I also think that it will take a lot of convincing to get Purdue to use Google Calendar. I like the idea and think it would be helpful to have a different calendar system.

I think that your team has a very strong proposal.  I like how you laid out exactly why the utilzation of google calendar would benfite the Purdue community.  I think you should add that it will also be benficial because it will allow users to add the CCO's calander to theirs and then see on their own calander what is happening with the CCO. Over all I think you have a great proposal that is straight to the point.

Peer Review: 4/14

After reading through your teams proposal I think this is a great idea and program for them to pick up. I did my project two on Google claenders and I am aware of the features it offers and thats why I agree that this could be a great program for them. It offers many features that would really benifit not only them but the users too. You did a good job of covering the features and how they could benifit CCO. I thought your team did a good job at realting how this could really benifit their organization. One thing that I think would really be benificial in the report is to make sure they understand how it is capable for Purdue students to upload the calender as their own so then they will know exactly what is going on. The only other thing would be watch the spelling. You spelled Google wrong in the first line under utilization of Google calenders. Overall I think this is a great idea and I think the proposal was done very professionaly.

I think your team has come up with a great proposal that is very well writing.  Each of your section are clearly and effectively written so that the reader comes away with no confusion about the overall project goal and the steps needed to complete the project.  I used CCO religiously last semester while job hunting and would have to say that this is a great project to get rid of their current sub-par calendar system that I never used.  I'm not familiar with Google Calendar, so I cannot think of any future problems specifically pertaining to the program.  One problem I could see would be having too many people with the ability to modify the calendar could lead to problems, but the administration controls will be left to CCO to decide.

I really like your plan for this project.  I work with the CCO very frequently, and it is always a battle to find schedules for interviews and events on campus if you dont know exactly what you are looking for.  Your proposed idea would help greatly with this process.  Adding a Google calendar application to the CCO website would be a direct solution to that problem.  Also, with the ability to sync those calendars with your Outlook calendar and with blackberry phones, the CCO would be taking a step in the right direction by catering to the rapidly advancing world.  I think choosing the CCO as your client for this is a great choice and I think your plan for helping them solve this problem is a good one.  Great job!

It looks like the Google Calender would really help the CCO reach out to more students.  One thing to keep in mind is to correctly spell what you are using correctly.  First line of the "Utilization of Google Calendar at the Career Center" section "Goggle".  Other than that It look like you guys know what has to be done to show the CCO how to use this calender and I will be looking forward to seeing how to us it also.

I agree that yout team has come up with a very good proposal. The layout of the proposal it what sold me. It says how the Google calender could help out CCO and Purdue. I also liked how your group expoilted the flaws if the current calender. THe different sections of the proposal all look very strong. THe only thing that I could think of that moght be a problem is that to access the calender you need a google email.

Google Calendar

I think you chose a great client. I believe CCO could really
benefit from using Google Calendar and all of its features. You highlight an important
feature that CCO would need, which is being able to limit access and put in
place limitations on access to certain people. I think it is important to
highlight this security issue with your client. I is important to highlight can
relate the proposal to the client. The format looks professional, and the memo
form is good.

Great work throughout in presenting relevant information on CCO and on Google Calendar. A strength in the memo is the level of detail that you present on using Calendar for the CCO. That engaging content is an effective blueprint for your drafting process and your deliverables.

Strong writing throughout. Headings are also effective and descriptive. Sentences and verbs produce a high level of readability. I think one thing that will improve readabilty is using shorter paragraphs. Divide the writing here into shorter, more readable paragraphs.
