Hi Dynamic Duo!

Just so you know, my partner and I decided we would each do a usability test for you. This way with our different accounts, we would have different experiences, and can give you a little more feedback! Good luck!

Section I: Setting Up an Account and Flickr Basics
1. Were you able to easily set up an account if you did not already have one?

I already had an account, but it was easy to log in. I had no issues!

2. Were you able to successfully upload your photos?

It was easy to upload my photos. I wish I could have seen the photo right after I uploaded it though, because I wasn't sure I uploaded the right one!

3. Did the instructions make the organizing process easier to learn?

The instructions definitely helped. Even when something seemed simple, it was nice to have confirmation from the instructions before I went and did the wrong thing. It helped me manage my time better and kept me right on track.

Section II: Interaction within the Flickr Community
1. Were you able to successfully make a contact with a current user?

I don't know anyone who uses flicker so this was a little hard for me at first. However one of my friends told me his friend has it, and I did a search for him just to see how it works. It was pretty easy to make contact.

2. Did you attempt to create your own group? Was your attempt successful or unsuccessful?

I decided to try to join a group first because i thought this would be easier. It was easy to search for groups. I was amazed how many results came up when I put in key words! After this I tried to create a group, this was a little harder but still easy to follow.

3. Did you find group administration easy to carry out, or would you have preferred more instruction? The instruction was pretty sufficient for this.

Section III: Web 2.0 Integration
1. Did you find the integration instructions relevant to online tools you may use?

Yes, I thought the instructions were relevant and helpful. The print screens were helpful as well, because I was able to look and make sure I was seeing the right thing on my screen. This also helped to ensure me that I was on task.

2. Are there any other Web 2.0 integrations with Flickr that you think should be included?

I do not really know much about flicker. One thing I like about something like myspace and facebook is that there are various activities/ games people can partake in. For example, you can send cards and gifts and take movie quizzes and things like that. does flickr have anything like this?

General
1. Are there any parts that seem too detailed for steps that should be intuitive?

Nothing seemed to detailed to me. I think the detail is really helpful because that way I have all the information I need. You provided enough detail to guide to me, but not too much to overwhelm me.

2. Are there any parts that could use more detail to eliminate confusion?

The administration part was a little confusing for me. It was not so much the instruction as the fact that I did not know what exactly the administration was for. You might want to include a little bit more information about the administration stuff, not a lot is needed, but the detail is helpful!

3. Do the screenshots accurately illustrate the actions intended?

The screenshots were very helpful as a visual aid. Is there anyway that you can make some of the screen shots less fuzzy? Overall, they were really helpful though!

The following is my usability test.

Section I: Setting Up an
Account and Flickr Basics

1. Were you able to easily set up an account if you did
not already have one?

Yes. There were no problems
setting up an account.

2. Were you able to successfully upload your photos?

Yes.
The instructions were very straightforward.

3. Did the instructions make the organizing process easier
to learn?

Yes.
I think the amount of detail in the instructions was perfect, and they made the
process a lot easier!

Section II: Interaction
within the Flickr Community

1. Were you able to successfully make a contact with a
current user?

Yes,
this was also easy to do with your instructions.

2. Did you attempt to create your own group? Was your
attempt successful or unsuccessful?

Yes,
your instructions were easy to follow and made creating a group very simple.

3. Did you find group administration easy to carry out, or
would you have preferred more instruction?

Yes,
I think that the instructions were detailed enough for this part. In this
section the note (**NOTE: You may only join public groups unless
invited by an administrator of a private group.) does not make sense. Should
public be private? You may want to look at that before the final draft.

Section III: Web 2.0 Integration

1. Did you find the integration instructions relevant to
online tools you may use?

Yes.
The illustrations were especially helpful in this section and the instructions
seemed to cover all the tools I would want to use.

2. Are there any other Web 2.0 integrations with Flickr
that you think should be included?

I
have not used Flickr before so I cannot think of anything else to include in
the instructions. Overall I thought they included a good amount of material.

General

1. Are there any parts that seem too detailed for steps
that should be intuitive?

I
think that the instructions were detailed enough. I do not think there were any
parts that were too detailed because I had not used the website before so the
detail helped me to know that I was on the right track.

2. Are there any parts that could use more detail to
eliminate confusion?

There
are some places where it might be helpful to define terms or use more general
terms so that users who may not be familiar with computers will be able to
fully understand the instructions. For example the term “meta data” in the
tagging section may not be apparent to everyone.

3. Do the screenshots accurately illustrate the actions
intended?

Some
of the illustrations were hard to see or blurry. I didn’t know if this was done
on purpose or if it was hard to copy. Other than this the screenshots were
helpful and useful.

I think this is a great illustrated instruction
project that is very useful and applicable to people our age. I think your
group did a great job putting the instructions together and I had no problems
in setting up an account or uploading pictures. The instructions were also
detailed which helped a lot!
