Router setup comment and advice

I like the idea of your illustrated instructions; I have had to set up a lot of wireless routers for other people. I know I don’t really understand all the different security settings. I think it may be a good idea to have a definitions page of the terms you use during your instructions for quick reference. Also another possible issue is if you will use Windows XP or Vista . I know there is probably very little difference, but maybe you could state if there are any differences and where they are. I hope you do this well, maybe I could just send your illustrated instructions to people and they could figure it out themselves!

Nicely Formatted

I like the professional look of the memo. I think it might be a little over the top but it is cool that way (To: Students of English 421Y Online classroom).

Our group (Team Purdue) is doing a similar topic. The projects should coordinate well. While your project is aimed more at the hardware and firmware of the router, and the technical specifications of various wireless security standards, we are concetrating more on the actual Windows sharing of files, printers, and Internet Connections.

Your proposal seemed pretty good. I'd like to see some more detail as to what you would show for various points. Are you planning on doing a Port Forwarding section (for Applications/Gaming tab of router). Is there a specific model you are referring to? The most common, I think, is the WRT54G. Maybe go into, briefly, the various bands, and share that N wireless is the new hot wireless, but it might not be worth spending extra money yet. Just some ideas to throw out there, but everything seems pretty good.

Your proposal

You've already made a lot of good decisions by anticipating your audience's needs and articulating how you'll respond to those. Your subsequent sections are effective in explaining many of your steps. Continue to include that kind of good background information in your instructions. This proposal provides relevant insights into your instructions, and I look forward to the results. You've also produced really relevant writing in articulating group roles. That will only sustain you throughout the drafting and writing.

Good work with memo format and headings. Writing style is strong and engaging. You might try using shorter paragraphs in some sections.
