The Goonies - Project 3 Final

Erin's picture

The blog entry serves as a cover note for The Goonies Final Project 3 Deliverables.  For Project 3, we created user documentation and a multimedia presentation explaining Google Calendar to our client, Purdue's Center for Career Opportunities.

Attached to this note is our final user documentation, final multimedia presentation, and a screencast (in swf format) for Google Calendar created in Adobe Captivate.

All of our final deliverables implemented some revision suggested by our peers.  We would like to note that we recognize the advantages of having a voiceover in our presentation.  However, we were unable to add a voiceover to our presentation as none of us had voice recording capabilities.

Thanks for all your help and we would appreciate any comments!

Week 16 Project Log: First Drafts!

Erin's picture

This week was a very producitve week for The Goonies. We split the work up on the Multimedia Presentation and the User Documentation. We submitted drafts of both those documents on Wednesday for peer review. We also have gotten to see what a lot of the other groups did on their parts of the project. Additionally, we recieved a lot of really helpful feedback on our usability report that should help us in creating our final drafts. Only one more week of the class!

Week 15 Project Log: Usability Study and Project 3 Miscellaneous

Erin's picture

This week in Project 3 - Client Based Service Learning Project land, the members of "The Goonies" all posted individual drafts of their usability studies.  After review, we're now compiling our individual usability studies into one large usability study.  There seems to be a bit of confusion about that assignment though, so we'll have to get that cleared up before we submit anything.

Overall, I think our team is making decent progress on this project.  Honestly, I'm still not sure what the point of the project is, but I guess I'll just deal.

Final Individual Usability Study

Attached is my final usability study.  I didn't recieve any comments on my original draft, so with the exception of a couple tweaks that I made, this is very similiar to my original individual usability study.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Thanks,  Erin

Week 14 Project Log: Individual Usability Test and Project Proposal

Erin's picture

This week was a very productive week for The Goonies.  We all created our individual usability tests.  We all drafted our Project 3 Proposal, incorporated some reviewer's comments, and created a final version.

Additionally, we heard back from Tim Luzader, the POC for our client.  CCO is very excited to help us with our project!

Looking ahead to Week 15, it looks like we've got a lot on our plate.  We're going to be complete individual usability studies, starting to compile those into an overall group usability study, and beginning work on our instructions draft and our mulitmedia presentation.

Individual Usability Study

Attached to this blog post is a completed usability study for Google Calendar.  I created a usability study for Google Calendar that specifically focused on the Public Calendar functionality of the Google Application.  I then created a new Google account and set up a Google Calendar.  I made a public calendar and set out to share the calendar.  I then completed the usability study I had created.

Week 13 Project Log: An Introduction to Project 3

Erin's picture

This week, our porject 3 groups were formed.  I'm a member of The Goonies.  For Project 3, we will be pitching the use of Google Calendar to Tim Luzader, the director of  Purdue's Center for Career Opportunities (CCO).  We think that if CCO were to create a public calendar in Google Calendar, Purdue students could add it to their personal calendars.  We think that this could get more students involved in CCO and the various events they host.

We've successfully created a client contact email draft and have sent it to Kevin for his approval.  For this week, we still need to incorporate his comments and actually send the email to Tim Luzader.

In the week ahead, we will be creating a project proposal and individual usability tests.

Client Contact Email Draft

Attached to this blog post is a draft of our Client Contact Email. It is attached as a PDF, but will eventually be sent out as an email. We've already chatted with Kevin about our project and our waiting for his go ahead to send an email to our client, Tim Luzader, the director of CCO.

We would appreciate any and all feedback.

Thanks,

The Goonies
