Reading Week 12 (Carter Beckham)

When I started reading this week's assignment from 188-200, I found the very first page to be very interesting regarding context. It brings up a really good point about speaking vs. writing. Speaking unites production and delivery, while writing does not. There could be large amounts of distance and or time between production and delivery of writing. Also, when writing, one cannot see the reaction of their audience as they can in public speaking. How an audience perceives writing could be greatly different from how they perceive those same words spoken. A good writer must be able to write exactly how they want their work to be portrayed, whereas a speaker can use the many tools to portray his words without necessarily saying everything aloud.
