Ethos in Writing

I think that pages 192-193 are trying to say that ethos is the more important in writing than logos or pathos, because you have to shape your writing to appeal to the emotions and beliefs of your different readers in order for them to fully understand your writing, take it to heart, and, depending on the tone of it and the topic, to potentially not offend anyone. I also like how they made the point about the essays of Gary Smith and Julian Dibble who are white and telling stories about black men, and that when writing about a character that is different from you, you have to first represent yourself and then represent the others similarly.
