Context's meaning has changed significantly over the years, but simply by expanding.
The importance of context when writing is crucial. You never know who is going to end up reading your work, or the context. I hadn't realized the importance of it until reading this page, but I completely agree. Context must be taken into consideration to create an interesting piece of work. The articles we've read up to this point and time have had good context, making the articles inviting to their readers and pull the reader in.
As a writer, knowing this will really come in useful to create an more engrossing story and have my readers much more into the story then they have been up until now.

Becca, this is very true! A focused sense of audience and context can inform a writer, making his/her sentences more clear, focused, and interesting for the reader. You always want your reader to feel like you are speaking straight to them -- creating a conversational feel (even in the midst of a formal paper!) If you hit your target audience well through an understanding of context, you can accomplish this close relationship with your ghost-like reader (something Morgan touches on!)
