The part I found most interesting in this reading was the deduction and induction part. The first thing I thought of when I was reading the deductive property is the transitive property in math. Basically it means the same thing: If A=B and A=C, then B=C. While it works in math it seems to me that it is a risky thing to do in writing and you need to be careful when using it. You want to make sure that you don't draw inproper conclusions from what is really there. The same goes for induction but even to a further extent.

Week 12 Reading Blog
Posted March 28th, 2008 by mtkleinI found the first few pages of this reading to be very interesting, mainly the talk about the relationship between the author and the audience. When I think about it we never really do see the author of what we read and they are very abstract. Unless they are a well known author like JK Rowling or Tom Clancy or a well known newspaper columnist they are nothing more to us than a name on a page. I have never really thought before about the actual person who is physically writing the text that I am reading. I also never really considered the opposite side of the equation.
A Different Kind of Change
Posted February 11th, 2008 by mtkleinFor hundreds of years rich white men have ruled the world. What we are seeing as we approach the 2008 general elections in nothing short of historic. For the first time in the history of the United States a woman or a black man will represent one of the two major parties in the presidential elections. I speak of course about Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton who are currently entangled in an incredibly tight race for the Democratic Party bid. This means that whoever wins that battle will be one step away from what most would describe as ‘the most powerful person in the world’.
