It is hard for me to study with noise. I also can not focus on what I am doing if there is a song playing that I know the words to. So, with this in mind, I have found my ideal study spot to be the study room, in Owen Hall's basement. When I step into that room and make my way to the second cubical, I am in the zone. When I sit in one of the four seats, at the square table, I notice the things around me. I am surrounded by three plain walls of dull yellow, and the fouth wall, just half of a window. I hear the wooshing sound of the heating vent but nothing else is making a sound. The hard wooden chair, braced up against my bottom, give me the feel of a classroom and the silent air mimics that of a room full of testing students.
Studies show that you can recall information much more effectively, if you study in the same atmosphere as you will be in when you are trying the recall it.
