A Little "I'm sorry" and A Little Advice

Dear Deidra,

I know you might wonder why I have chosen to major in the major of my choice. I am still wondering that myself. I don’t really know why I am doing Aeronautical Technology. I am sure you know that the 18 year old version of you is lazy and believes that she doesn't like to do anything so she is just making a choice. So, I want to apologize for any unnecessary roads I go down. I also want to apologize for forcing you to go through the heartbreak you did with your ex-boyfriend and with your father. As for future advice, if you have children or plan to have children, read to them so that they don't end up like me. Help them with their life decisions, and be sure to take them to church and pray with them. Make sure to keep in touch with your family and love your mother until the day she dies. Be strong and keep your head up.

With Love,
Deidra

Deidra's Need to Knows

Dear Ne-ne,

I want you to read this letter with an open mind. I know this may be a little strange, but I am you in the year 2008. Listen to me. There are several things you will need to know. First, the problems you are having right now in Nicholson Elementary School will be over soon. If you beat up Patricia and publically humiliate her, they will go away faster. Don't go home and think about all of the things you should have said or done. Just do them. Let those bullies think that you are crazy and take chances. Don't be afraid to step to the bullies that are bothering you and pick them off, one by one.
Second, Work your hardest in 6th grade. This is when you will receive your first "D" and it will stop you from getting into Beta club like Danielle.

FIRE STARTER (OH SHIT)

When i was young, like any other kid, i liked to play with fire. Can't explain exactly why, but i did. Well anyway, one day i was at home and found an old newpaper and thought to myself, "this should be interesting". And so off i went to a secluded place were a lot of water was to "play",to the bathroom. Well anyway, things didn't go as well i had thought they would. First the paper went up faster than i had planed, so i threw it into the sink, "no problem" i thought. Then, somehow the decorative towels caught on fire, "umm... uh oh" i thought. Then before i knew it, the wall was up in flames, "OH SHIT!!!" i thought. So off i ran to the kitchen to grap a couple of pots to fill up and throw on the flames. I eventually i was able to put out the fire, but through it all i learned something important, that children shouldn't play with fire. "At least not inside".

The study spot. The right silence

It is hard for me to study with noise. I also can not focus on what I am doing if there is a song playing that I know the words to. So, with this in mind, I have found my ideal study spot to be the study room, in Owen Hall's basement. When I step into that room and make my way to the second cubical, I am in the zone. When I sit in one of the four seats, at the square table, I notice the things around me. I am surrounded by three plain walls of dull yellow, and the fouth wall, just half of a window. I hear the wooshing sound of the heating vent but nothing else is making a sound. The hard wooden chair, braced up against my bottom, give me the feel of a classroom and the silent air mimics that of a room full of testing students.
Studies show that you can recall information much more effectively, if you study in the same atmosphere as you will be in when you are trying the recall it.
