"My People"

Ok so I misunderstood the whole showcase taking the place of blogs, so now I get to write a lovely blog about my discourse communities and how they overlap.

Eric Idle's words

If your feeling down remember the words of Eric Idle

"Some things in life are bad,
They can really make you mad,
Other things just make you swear and curse,
When you're chewing life's gristle,
Don't grumble,
Give a whistle
And this'll help things turn out for the best.
And...

Always look on the bright side of life.
[whistle]
Always look on the light side of life.
[whistle]

If life seems jolly rotten,
There's something you've forgotten,
And that's to laugh and smile and dance and sing.
When you're feeling in the dumps,
Don't be silly chumps.
Just purse your lips and whistle.
That's the thing.
And...

Always look on the bright side of life.
[whistle]
Always look on the right side of life,
[whistle]

For life is quite absurd
And death's the final word.
You must always face the curtain with a bow.
Forget about your sin.
Give the audience a grin.
Enjoy it. It's your last chance, anyhow.
So,...

Always look on the bright side of death,
[whistle]

Hey,
You know by now I would expect nieces and nephews to spoil, maybe a kid or two, and if you can find a guy you can live with, a great guy. I expect a lucrative job at a wonderful place that I love going every day. This would be what I would expect, if I didn't know myself so well.
Who knows, people change. You could be a really happy individual. If not your probable the nosy neighbor or the women always out of town(business or pleasure, nobody really knows). Just try not to lose your self in what ever you happen to be involved in.
Try not to lose any great friends and make an effort to be sociable and don't let your self slip into obscurity. You know how easy that can be, we learned it second semester. Lessons hopefully learned, loved, and lived by.
Stay strong, stay smart, and love often.
Love Me.

Whats up?

So, how was Germany? What about Japan? I'm sure they're awesome and pretty cool after spending so much time in Brazil. How is the wifey? Ela fala, ne? I always figured she would. How many cars you got now? Living in LA? Got any good DJ gigs, did you even stick with that?

Anyway, since I'll have to wait to find out the answers to that. Remember a few things. If you're happy, you're successful. Don't forget who you are and where you've come from, if you start to forget that, go take a vacation. I figure I don't need to tell you to love the people around you. I'm not really sure what else I need to do besides remind you of a few things. I think you're a smart guy, so I'm going to let you figure out the hard things on the way... Smiling

A Little "I'm sorry" and A Little Advice

Dear Deidra,

I know you might wonder why I have chosen to major in the major of my choice. I am still wondering that myself. I don’t really know why I am doing Aeronautical Technology. I am sure you know that the 18 year old version of you is lazy and believes that she doesn't like to do anything so she is just making a choice. So, I want to apologize for any unnecessary roads I go down. I also want to apologize for forcing you to go through the heartbreak you did with your ex-boyfriend and with your father. As for future advice, if you have children or plan to have children, read to them so that they don't end up like me. Help them with their life decisions, and be sure to take them to church and pray with them. Make sure to keep in touch with your family and love your mother until the day she dies. Be strong and keep your head up.

With Love,
Deidra

30 and still the same old Pat?

Dear Pat,
This is your 18 year old self. As you probably remember this wasnt an easy time for you. You were going through a lot of bad things and it was hard to get through it. Right now your work ethic isnt where it should be. Hopefully when you read this note your work ethic would have changed and gotten much better. Im sorry I had to go through this stage but I promise that it will only make you stronger. Anyways, I hope that all is well when I get to be your age. I hope by then I have something to look forward too in the morning. I hope by now you have a wife and maybe kids. But If not, I really hope you are happy and I promise that i will do everything in my power to make sure that you will be living the good life by your age.
Sincerly,
Your 18 year old self

I hope you haven't gotten out of shape over the years.

Dear Self,

Sup studly 30 yr old

So you're all old now huh bud. You're probably saying to yourself, "Who the hell is this?" WELL good friend, this is your 18 year old self sending you a letter. The one thing I want to know is...when you were back in college and reading Purdue statistics on starting pay for a EET grad, was it right? I'm making sure to keep it on the right path for you but did you actually make 55k/year starting by blowing things up? Get back to me on this as I would like to know the answer ASAP. Hows the married life? I know right now I say to myself wait till after college but man it's tempting, I sure hope you waited because but it's sorta killing me at the moment. What about overall health? Has a cure for Crohns been found? Do you still have your metabolism you had during college and high school?

if the world hasn't blown up or frozen over you should read this and don't get dead

Well your thirty,

Really?! You are actually 30!?

Hey you! I cannot believe you are 30!!! Don't you feel SO old?! I never thought the day would come where I would actually be that old!! Well first of all, I would like to apologize for college. My freshman year was rough, but hopefully I picked a major soon enough that it didn't take you 5 or 6 years to graduate! And whatever it was that I picked, I hope you absolutely love it, and are successful enough to support yourself! If not, hopefully you married rich! Haha just kidding! Also, I apologize for being so indecisive all those years, hopefully I grew out of it! But I guarantee that we had a good time at Purdue!
