English 420, Business Writing

Our presentation is scheduled for tomorrow and our group should be in good shape. We are all on different schedules and as busy as we are, we managed to split everything up. I believe all of us have completed what we have agreed to do and we will do our presentation tomorrow. With that in mind, we will get together this week to finalize everything and have our project ready to turn in by Friday as originally planned.

I think we are probably ok without meeting tomorrow. Vic and I's work schedules are such that it would be impossible for both of us to be there at one time anyways, I can be at class by 3:30 on Monday if anyone wants to discuss anything more before the presentation. I'll have my work up here tomorrow evening.

Our two different ads are very similar in what they are trying to do but are aimed at two different crowds. Our first ad is directed at Purdue students, because we as a group concluded that many students are more likely to go somewhere after classes possibly for a drink or dinner. In this as we included Spurlock's drink specials. In our other advertisement we aimed for more the Purdue faculty then students. This as includes the daily lunch specials that Spurlock's offer. The faculty usually has a very set schedule and would be able to go off campus for lunch.

We met with Mark last week and talk about the responsibilities of each group member. I will be responsible for designing of flyers, etc. Jon and Victor will be responsible for research and write the demographic, etc. And John will be the main communicator for our project. He will be responsible for getting things sign, and show the Spurlock's owner our flyers and progresses.

We didn't do much with the service learning project last week since the final draft of the white paper was due. Because we have difficulties meeting each other to finish our final draft, we have to turn it in Friday. So the entire week, we have spent all of our time on white paper instead. But John did manage to get the contract sign by the Spurlock's owner.

We have met with Spurlock and began researching. After completing the White Paper Project, I feel pretty confident in how our team will complete this project. We will complete the contract and proposal today and hopefully continue at our current pace throughout this project.

For the service learning project, management 28-01 has decided to contract with Spurlock's Restaurant and Pub to design a newspaper ad. John Redding has been made leader of this project because he has had the most contact with the owner of Spurlock's. Jin, Victor, and I have begun writing up the contract proposal. We just received the ok to design a newspaper ad from the owner of Spurlock's today and he will use it at his discretion. Spurlock's wants us to choose a local demographic and write up a list of ways to appeal to this demographic.

Again, this week is an overlap between white paper and service learning. After the presentation on Wednesday, we started to work on our proposal for service learning project. We've decided that we would probably be helping them out with advertising with The Exponent and help design their website.
