9 Irish Brothers (25-01)Darling- Work Blog 4![]() This week was a rather disappointing week when it came to our service learning project. We met with out contact at Nine Irish Brothers, Matt, on Monday. I had come down with a very bad case strep throat, so I couldn't attend the meeting. Jake had stepped in as group leader and went to the meeting in my place. We had met earlier that day to complete a few odds and ends on the document for the meeting with Matt. The meeting didn't go very well only because we had forgotten to save the document on Jake's computer. He rescheduled for the following day.

Darling- Work Blog 3![]() This past week we have gotten much done on the Service Learning Project. On Monday, we met with Matt at Nine Irish Brothers to discuss the layout of the orientation guide and the program we wanted to use to construct the document (Microsoft OneNote). We also met with the main bartender, and part owner, Alex. He revised the list of bartender's duties and helped us create a list for special cleaning duties for the bartenders on specific days of the week. With Matt, we revised the orientation guide and told him our suggestions for the document.

Work Blog #2![]() For the second week of our Service Learning Project, we decided to focus our attention on 9 Irish Brothers. We have met with the managers once in order to discuss plans for our project. The manager, Matt, suggested we rewrite the new employee orientation guide to help him out. He provided us with a CD full of the current orientation guide. After looking at the volume of information, we decided as a group to focus our attention on the "front of the house" orientation. This includes, servers, bussers/runners, bartenders and doormen/greeters.

Work Blog #1![]() The first week of our service learning project we chose three local bars/music venues to focus our service learning project on. We chose 9 Irish Brothers, Knickerbocker Saloon, and the Lafayette Brewing Company. I was tasked to research the Knickerbocker Saloon, and I found much information on the website. I googled "Knickerbocker Saloon Lafayette Indiana." I then wrote a 300 word paper on the upcoming events that our group could assist with advertising.

Darling- Work Blog 2![]() This week we met with Matt, our contact at Nine Irish Brothers to discuss our plans more thoroughly and to sign the contract. Matt brought along the current documents that the company uses for training manuals along with checklists for each position on a CD. He discussed what he wanted more thoroughly and as a group, decided to only work with the front of the house staff for the time being.

Jake Austin - Service learning work blog 2Over the past week I have been working on finishing up and began working on the service learning project. Last week we met with a representative from nine irish brothers and we determined exactly what we need to do. I have looked over the orientation manual that needs to be fixed and thought about changes. I have also began messing around with Microsoft onenote, which is the program that they want us to make the document with. Over the next week I will be getting started on transferring everything into onenote.

Jake Austin - Service Learning Work Blog 1The first week of the service learning project has been a busy one. Over the past week I went with Cassandra to meet with the manager of Nine Irish Brothers. During the meeting we had great success in finding out what we needed to do for our project. We will be creating a new orientation manuel for their employees.

Darling- Work Blog 1![]() This week the Service Learning Project was introduced. After discussing our options, my group decided to try to work with O'Bryan's Nine Irish Brothers Pub. Jake and I went to the pub after class one day this week and talked with the general manager about our proposal. We explained why we were there and what we hoped we could help him with. Immediately, he suggested a project that he was been wanting to get around to, but just doesn't have the time.
