Week 3 (28-01)

Reading Response 3

nprice's picture

The two resumes I would like to compare in this reading response are resumes number one and number four. In the first resume, they use a good name and heading. They make use of their space, but could possible double space after the heading. The actual layout of the resume is good. They are consistent with bullets and tabbing. However, it is lacking in the contrast area. They should maybe bold the sections instead of just the type of intern. The font sizes and styles are good, simple and big enough to read with ease.

Resume Critiques

enpowers's picture

The two resumes I have chosen are resumes one and three. I chose resume one because I felt that it was an example of a good resume. The first think that I noticed was a good use of white space. The contrast between the writing and white space is very appealing to the eye. Also, I liked the font that they chose because it is simple and classic. I feel that it goes with the flow of the rest of the resume. The descriptions of the work experience is also good because they keep it short and to the point, for example all of the job tasks were only one sentence and one line long.

Reading Response 3

baker55's picture

There were two resumes that stood out of the possible four that we could choose from for this particular assignment. There was one example of very well rounded resume, being Resume 4, and then there was also a prime example of a resume that looked as though it had been thrown together at the last minute, Resume 1. To effectively create your own resume you must take a look at examples of both good and bad resumes. These two particular resumes are perfect for that task.

Reading response 3

I selected resume two and four to evaluate the design and content. The first thing I did was print them out to see what they looked like on paper. Once printed some problems became much more apparent to me.

Week 3 Reading Response-Resumes by Jamie Anderson

anders51's picture

The first resume that I critiqued was resume number two. The top of the resume is nice with the name bolded and in bigger font than the rest of the information. The line under the personal information creates a nice break into the following sections. This resume uses bolding well. The headings are bolded and in capitals while other important information such as the university and job titles. This resume also uses descriptive action verbs extremely well. This person describes themselves in an appropriate and successful way.

Reading Responses Week 3: Resumes

vwong's picture

The resumes that I chose for this exercise were one and four. Each of these resumes had strong points, but there were little subtleties that could make them more presentable to future employers. Resume one is easy to follow and there is enough space throughout the resume for me to rest my eyes. The contrast in this resume is good for the most part. There is capitalization for categories, bold font for company names, and regular font for the rest of the resume. What stands out are the categories. It looks like the writer used the same font for both the categories and the body text.

I chose resumes one and three for this exercise because I had the strongest reactions to them. Both resumes had their strong points, and both also left at least a little extra to be desired.
