Week 14 service learning update![]() This past week, our group got a good deal accomplished for the project. We got our contract signed, and the owner at Hungry's was all for everything we pledged to do for him, and as of right now we are all working towards completing those tasks. We broke the project down and gave each member somewhat equal duties. Tae is in charge of learning how to advertise within the residence halls. Steve is in charge of learning how to advertise on campus in general as well as advertising in our new student orientation program, Boiler Gold Rush. Matt is in charge of learning how to get advertisements in the coupon books on campus. I (joey) am in charge of finding out how to advertise on the campus program days and in the Exponent. Matt has been looking into "College Coupons" from Folletts and "The Campus Special" coupon books from University Bookstore. Everywhere he has looked thus far the information has been vague about the pricing. They just mention that the price is about half the cost of newspaper ads. He has also been researching these coupon books from a standpoint to find out some statistical information about them so that Hungry's can utilize the coupon books in the fall. Steve has been in contact with Associate Dean of Students Pablo Malavenda to determine how businesses can advertise on campus. We have determined that businesses can only do flyering and hand-outs and samples when in conjunction with another student organization. We found the University policy that lists this, so I will work with Student Body President Eric Van Houten to provide a list of contact information from Presidents Roundtable. This is a group of 60 of the most active student organizations, so it would provide them with potential advertising contacts. He is also still waiting to hear back from Chairman of the Student Orientation Committee (SOC) Sam Killerman to find out how to advertise with Boiler Gold Rush. SOC puts on Boiler Gold Rush freshman orientation, so he will be able to tell us how to provide coupons and samples during this week. Tae went and found out all of the names and phone numbers for the residence halls, and is currently working on adding a list of demographics to that information so it will be completed. I (joey) have been in contact with Jessica Kasmerchek, the assistant director in the office of admissions. We have discussed all of the program days and some of the information for those, and I feel comfortable presenting that information to Hungry's. I will be getting in contact with the exponent on Monday. This week, we are just finishing everything up for our project, and we have given ourselves a due date of Friday, April 18th.
