English 420, Business Writing

This week the Sales Group tied up loose ends with the sales whitepaper and the presentation. We met on Easter Sunday in Hicks Digital Learning Collaboratory to make the slide show for our presentation and work on finalizing our whitepaper. We began the presentation by incorporated what we thought the take home points were from each of our sections of the paper onto slides. This created a good overview presentation of our whole paper, and also let everyone talk about his or her particular section that they had been researching for the past few weeks (Matt made the payment and design slides, I made the marketing and advertising slides, and Evan made the third party hiring slides).
We also illustrated some of the items we talked about in our whitepaper and also in the presentation by adding them to our original Knight Corporation web store sample web site from our technical presentation on Dreamweaver. This way instead of just talking about online catalogs, graphical and design options, and payment options such as Paypal, we could actually show the class what we were recommending to the Knight Corporation. We showed an example of a third party payment system by linking the checkout option to Paypal’s home site. We also demonstrated what product catalogs looked like and how they work by showing our class the Braun Company’s website which also specializes in disability equipment.
We also added more graphics to our whitepaper on the left margin and made the formatting more cohesive. We selected complementary green colors for our heading and titles. We also reread the paper for errors and made some minor clarifications to ensure the paper’s clarity for presentation to the Knight Corporation (in-class panel). We also added an introduction and conclusion to make the paper more complete, and also read more smoothly.
