English 420, Business Writing

This week our team met twice in order to begin working on the Service Learning project. We were able to contact our organization and complete the proposal for class on Friday.

We had originally brainstormed three different companies/ organizations that we considered working with for the remainder of this project: Capp & Gino's, YWCA of the Greater Lafayette area, and the Boilermarket. During our first meeting of this week we decided to work with the YWCA. So it was my responsibility to contact the YWCA and introduce our group and our services.

It was quite difficult to catch up with the executive director, Shannon White, but once I finally got in contact with her via email she seemed very excited to work with us. After talking with her we decided to help the YWCA promote one of their upcoming fund-raisers in order to raise awareness about what the YWCA has to offer the members of the Lafayette community.

As of right now we have a face-to-face meeting set up with Mrs. White for next week so that we can get her to sign our contract and further discuss how we may be of service to this not-for-profit organization.
