English 420, Business Writing

This week, we were introduced to the Service Learning Project. We all brought some ideas together and came up with the Memo that was to be turned in on Friday. Fortunately, we already have a good idea who we want to work with. Early in the week, Tae went over and talked to the one who is in charge of Hungries, a new Chicago Style restaurant out at Purdue West. The manager has stated that he is willing to work with us so we feel that this is the route we will take.

We came up with a few ideas of what we can do to help Hungries, and the main thing we are looking at is helping to develop an advertising program for the restaurant. We are also hoping to work with the manager to design some coupons that we could get placed into the exponent or some of the bookstores coupon books. Yet another idea we have is to make a small menu much like the menus used at Jimmy Johns and distribute them around campus.

From what Tae has told us about the company, it seems to be a small restaurant that is still trying to get its footing here on Campus. The store sells hamburgers and hotdogs, among other things, and does not yet deliver, but plans to look into delivery options.

We met on Wednesday and Friday this week, by Wednesday we were required to research an organization that we were interested in working with, and by Friday we were asked to have a write-up to Steve about that so that he could compose the Memo. Some other deadlines we have set for our group are that our White Paper presentation is Wednesday, and for that we need to submit our Power-points to Tae by tonight, and we are meeting to rehearse and discuss what to put in and when to sign our contract with Hungries.
