English 420, Business Writing

Last week our team met and continued to work on our white paper. Monday we presented our technology presentation over Windows Movie Maker that was postponed from last Wednesday. Also on Monday I had finished all of my research about wireless laptops and it was sent to each member. I discovered what areas I needed to look at in determining the best brand and model for Knight Corporation’s needs. I decided upon one that was listed as ‘best business laptop’ by several online guides and documented all the features that it had.

The team met in class during the open period on Wednesday of last week. During this meeting we combined all of our sections and edited them as needed. The initial joining of these sections caused the overall paper to be extremely long and wordy. We read through each section and cut areas that weren’t needed and condensed the areas of overlap into their own sections.

The concluding paragraph at the end of the paper had yet to be added as we felt it would be best to write it after the other sections were edited and organized. We also began to work on the design of our paper. This included the spacing, color scheme, headers/footers and cover page design. The majority of this work was completed and should be completely finished by next week.

After the meeting we sent out the rough outline of the work we had done. We decided that any changes needed to have been made by Friday morning. The rough draft of our white paper was turned in on Friday afternoon before class.

This week will need to finish our white paper with all the final changes and final design elements that we decided upon in order for the final form to be turned this week. We will also need to work on creating our white paper presentation. We’ll need to decide how to split up the presentation and spend time practicing how we will present the information in its final form.
